Do you think the 8's are truly stronger than the 6's?? I've heard yes from some people and no from others. If they're not it doesn't make sense for me to change them out.

Yes, the whole thing is bigger… Everywhere…
Food for thought. Merc only dlls the 1350 with the M8, and gives a warranty.
You can buy the 1100 with either the 6 or M8 with a warranty.

Merc has to pay warranty bills on these packages. I figure that they would have given buyers the choice of drives with the 1350 if they thought the 6 would handle the power.. but they didn't. Talk is one thing, checkbooks are another.

They are saying something….

Yes have sixes now and figured the 8's would be the smartest upgrade instead of re-rigging the entire boat with shaft drives. Is the orange center console yours? If so I was idling around out in front of the fuel dock in key west when you were getting fuel.

I wonder how the #8 compares to the X-Power drive?

X-power is a bravo based drive.

The X-Drive website has the following statement:

"Direct replacement for stock bravo style outdrives. Bolts directly onto stock Bravo style gimbles with no modifications necessary.

Tested to 1535 hp., 1296 ft. lbs. torque with zero failures."

1,535 hp is impressive but, I would tend to think that the #8 is so much more stronger than the X Drive (I do like the X-Drive), that Jason Smith's response to your question with the word "seriously" was a fair and accurate answer.

I know guys that throw so much more power to their 6s then what a 1350 makes... And more than even a 1650. And I crew for them and we never have drive issues. Mainly cause they are maintained by Vern at West Coast Drives in Lake Havasu... Just call and talk to him and what he says will take care of all your questions, he's the best in the biz an just specializes in surface drives. 310-995-1670.... 928-302-1904

Vern is the man, he has been making and rebuilding drives since the mayflower LOL
