November is when we did most of our speed test runs! Not to mention running different pitches with the colder water makes a bid difference also. And just overall having fun! I need to find my old videos from when we ran In november. It was around mid 40's or so!

We took my buddies cir mistress to put in bay Ohio on the 27 th of December a few years ago, took my diesel powered work boat to pelee island last year January 11th-- kind of cheating there as it enclosed and heated...

when you have to follow an ice breaker out of the marina

I boat mostly in Northern Michigan in the Mackinaw Straits and I am out in late October for the colors. Coldest ever was when I bought my first boat. Had to have my buddy sit on the bow and bust ice with an oar to get out of the harbor. We were dressed in snowmobile gear and the 30-40 mile winds kept the lake clear of ice. It was so cold the fuel pump on my Merc couldn't keep up and had to keep pressure with the primer bulb. We saw what we though was a calm bay, but our eyes were tearing up so bad we couldn't tell it was frozen. Fortunately we were going fast enough that not much of the boat was in the water and the ice at the edge was thin enough it didn't hurt the motor. Must have been funny as anything to see that boat on it's side sliding across that ice. When we slowed down the ice broke and we have to take the oar again to bust our way out. It's not uncommon for water temp to be 34 when we are out in early spring.
