Is this boat at Boats Unlimited?

Waterfoul 08-10-2002 10:29 PM

A lot of people shy away from boats built by companies no loner in business to offer service and replacement parts. That and not many people have heard of Webbcraft. There was one around here for several years that had BIG power. And I mean BIG power. Faster than hell on a calm day. It was called "Out of Control" The name fit as I saw it. Had to have BIG huge ones to drive it as fast as he did.

Steve_H 08-10-2002 10:31 PM

it was till last week.now its up the road at mid missouri yacht brokers. boats unlimited didnt seam to be doing much so i moved it.

yes its very fast and OUT OF CONTROL at times.well fast to me anyways.it loves small chop.if the waves get to big it starts to chime walk pretty bad.scared me more then once.

mpally 08-10-2002 10:36 PM

If I remember correctly, it has bravos right? If not, that could be an issue also.

Steve_H 08-10-2002 10:39 PM

twin 502's (6 hours since rebuild on one , 200 hours on the other)
holley 750 double pumpers
bravo ones
freshly painted triple axial trailer (electric brakes)
new rub rail
new paint on rear of boat
trim tabs
drop out bolster seats
power engine hatch
finished cuddy cabin
4" thru hull stainless steel exhaust
preditor 4 blade stainless props

mpally , did you see it at boats unlimited

mpally 08-10-2002 10:41 PM

Ya, I saw it at BU. Was killing some time and looked around a bit. Seemed to be in very good shape.

Steve_H 08-10-2002 10:47 PM

it could use a few things but nothing major.rear seat vinyl is getting tired but that doesnt cost much.if i cant sell it i think ill update the dash with gaffrig gages and controls.

SinkorSwim 08-10-2002 10:49 PM

Looks sharp!

I think these type of boats (the so called "out of business companies") can be a great purchase for the individual who is not looking to trade up every 2 years.. My 2cents.

Hang in there!

thanks SinkorSwim

the only thing unique about boats is the hull.motors , drives , gauges , props , trailers are all made by other companys but i guess like you said alot of potential buyers may not know that.

Waterfoul 08-10-2002 11:02 PM

My first boat was built by an "out of business" company also. Jason Boats of Tennesee (no idea what town). Traded it in on the Baja. Beat that boat senseless and broke just about everything in it but fixed it better than it was when it was new. It is now owned by a rental company in Holland, MI and I see it often. It looks awful.

Waterfoul 08-10-2002 11:16 PM

So,are you saying I tend to embelish a bit?? LOL!!! Actually, I've had a few things published in small, insignificant journals no one here has ever heard of!!! All at the pleading of a college english professor. I don't think I even have copies of any of it anymore. Was all stored on my old Mac from college. I still have the computer though. Maybe I should fire it up!! LOL!!!

University of Michigan. BA in History, Minor in English.
Calvin College, BA in Elementary Education.

Work at Johnson Controls. At the moment I'm doing light assembly due to corporate cutbacks. Life pretty much sucks!!!

Steve_H 08-10-2002 11:25 PM

can someone tell me what the deadrise is from this pic.i was asked if its 24 degrees but have no idea.

Steve_H 08-11-2002 08:23 PM

anybody know the deadrise? hell , i dont even know what the deadrise is or how to measure it.ok , i confess , just trying to get this post to page 1.:p

mpally 08-11-2002 08:59 PM

I would say that it would be a 24 degree, but that is just a guess. Who was the Webbcraft dealer at LOTO? You could call them, they should know.

Shorty 08-11-2002 10:34 PM

Well, holding my protractor up to the screen, it appears to be about 22 degrees with a pad bottom. But it's kind hard to measure the small picture.

Ted G 08-11-2002 10:48 PM

I usually only hold my protractor up to the screen when looking at porn sites:D

Shorty 08-11-2002 10:59 PM

Ted, you need to turn the protractor right side up. You're measuring negative numbers!  :D

Ted G 08-11-2002 11:08 PM

No, just checking the angle of dangle:D :D :D

Steve_H 08-12-2002 09:15 AM

thanks for the protractor help guys.insptech , keep that thang away from my boat. ;)

Back4More 08-12-2002 10:25 AM

We sold Nexus boats for two years back in 86-87, and they were owned by Brad Webb's son. I think he "borrowed" the molds from dad to start his own business...

Anyway, they built a 23, a 28 and a 35. We sold 1 23', 1 28 and 3 35' boats. The 28 was a decent boat as I recall, but the 35 seemed to sell better. They were cheaply priced and seemed to be built well(although I was only 16 at the time) The 35 was pretty fast and smooth...with 330s and TRS drives..I think it did about 65...which was fast for me a the time!
