I had to put my buddy Magnum down a couple days ago. He was a mastiff/boxer mix I think..Ill never know since he was a rescue. Been hard to be at work the past couple days and will be for a long time. |
Sorry to hear brother, and yes it's tough. Lost Jake three years ago, didn't go to work for two weeks. Each day gets a little easier though. Hang in there.
|
HAng in their SS496.
RIP Magnum. Looks like you (Magnum) didn't believe that only small dogs could be lap dogs. :) |
Hate that for anyone whom is close to their animals
|
Dogs are the best people. Dogs ARE family.
Very sorry to hear. |
The one with glasses was my kid that I never had -- half dog - 35 % human 15 % cat - worse day of my life and someday I want to see him again coolest freakin cat in the world - freakin unreal for a pet . I try so hard to forget -both were mine from being strays 15 years ago - both are gone as they passed away. 3 years ago and the black one passed last year.
I remember I https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...d7f2bc18bc.jpg pm Indy because of something he said in a post years ago. Do you remember that., |
I love cats too. I have an outside cat that came around my shop when I was out there working. I snagged him and got him to the vet to be neutered and general check over. I named him Jager because he always seems to be there to party and in my face when my nose is under a hood or in a bilge. He doesnt seem to like being an inside cat, he is fine for a few hours but then starts meowing at the door wanting out. So I have a cat door into my shop and a spot in the corner for his food, water, litter box and a heated bed in the winter.
I have some pictures somewhere (the ex might have them) of Jager sleeping on top of Magnums back out in the driveway. Im sorry for the loss of your feline buddies. Magnum was THE lap dog. My mother looked after him during my work trips. At least once a day he would crawl up in her lap and wash her face and there wasnt much she could do about it....lol. I know everyone always thinks their dog is special...and they are. However, Magnum was truly extra special.....like double secret probation....lmao Thanks for the kind words everyone. It seems to help to get this out.....sort of a word barf...lol |
Sorry to hear of your loss. They are just like kids that we can spoil. The SOB that hit her will get his day, either here on earth or at the gates to hell.
|
Sorry to hear abt your loss bro. I've had to do the same thing a few times over the years. It never gets any easier. What does help is to adopt a new puppy.. It doesn't take away all the pain but it definitely helps a lot.
We have 2 awesome large dogs (from same litter) pushing 14 years old and our daughter is younger than them, so she has always had them around. Just the thought of her loosing her only "brothers" is weighing heavy on me already. Anyway, when the inevitable happens, our plan is to pick up 2 puppies ASAP. One thing I've always found to be true is that people that really love their animals are good people to be around. |
There is nothing that compares with the unconditional love of a dog. I have had 3 Newfoundland’s, ( Budweiser, Bud Light, and Max), 2 Labs (Magnum and Snapper), and a rescue that someone threw over my fenced backyard (Jackpot). She was a tiny puppy that weighed 5 pounds. My time with all of them was a joy that can’t be duplicated, I spent countless hours with all of them and they helped me solve many problems. Bud Light and Magnum loved to boat ride. They never told me to slow down and were always were ready to go. I still have Jackpot and Snapper but they, like me, are getting old. Every time I come home, their exuberant greeting makes you feel great regardless of what happened that day. I know that you miss your pup It’s hard to explain how much a dog can mean to you and some people will never understand the bond between you and your dog. In time, you will look back and grin when you think of all the fun you had with her. A Dog is truly man’s best friend.. And that makes the whole thing so worth it.q |

https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...7a7f990925.jpg This month is 5 years since we lost our Golden. Our son is an only child and we got Molly when he was 8 and she passed when he was 21 so pretty much all his memories to that point included his best buddy. I had many, many dogs growing up so I thought when the inevitable came I would be the stoic one and be able to handle it no problem. Boy was I wrong. It affected my son so much he developed an ulcer, lost 20 lbs., and I kid you not lost most of his hair which never came back so he just shaves his head now (had a full, thick set of hair prior). Anyway, sorry for all of your loses. With my son out of the house now and my wife and I traveling so much we haven't gotten another dog yet as it wouldn't be fair to the dog being boarded all the time. When I retire in 3 years rest assured I'll have another best buddy in the house. |

Could not agree more. x1000 I still have my pit bull (Jerzee, another one from a shelter)...she isnt doing well with it either since she has never been the only dog....but she has started eating/drinking regularly again....and getting off the back porch by herself. I agree a puppy can and would help. But, Im going to try to stick with one dog for awhile. However, animals always seem to find me. |
It was my turn today. My best buddy succumbed to spleen cancer just before noon today. He was a malamute mix and almost 14 years old. Vet diagnosed him with spleen cancer yesterday. Apparently the cantaloupe sized tumor burst after we got home. We stayed up with him all night. Ahh, just rips your heart out.

The worst...Sorry for your loss.
|
So sorry for your loss and just remember all of the joy he brought you for those 14 yrs.
|
Sorry man, terrible day and I know how it feels. The rainbow bridge stuff is nice to hear but what I really like is how animals are all over heaven in the Bible. Lions laying with lambs, Jesus on a white horse, doves, etc...you’ll see your buddy again one day for sure. |
So sorry to hear this. Unfortunately the only thing that will ease the pain is the passing of time. Hang in there. |
I feel for you guys. Putting a dog down is truly the hardest thing I have ever been a part of in my life. My last dog was one of our family dogs. I was late meeting up with my dad because I was busy cooking up a pound of bacon for her. Devastating. My current dog dog is the only thing keeping me with my girlfriend of 7 years (dog is 5). I made her promise that she would never get old or sick when she was younger. I can’t even imagine what will happen when I lose her. I have looked into cryogenics so we can meet again. |
Thx guys. I've been down this road before but it never gets any easier.
Still have Lobo's brother and he's doing OK so far. Lots of good memories for sure. |
Coming in late but want to say I am so sorry for your loss. The only thing I have found that helps a little is to remember the good times with your pup.

Sorry for your loss, I’ve have lost many over the years and it never is easy. I feel your pain. Certainly a big adjustment for you and his best bud. Each has such a unique personality for sure. |
Very sorry for your loss......I would love to have a one on one "chat" with the ahole that hit your Dog and drove off.
People drive way too fast in neighborhoods nowadays. I get so pissed at these idiots that fly by my house. Sometimes I stand at the end of my driveway just waiting for them to fly by and I give them hell. With 3 kids and a Dog I worry about this crap all the time. |
Today, I rejoined a club I didn’t want to be a part of again. Lost Alibi, my red nose sidekick. By my side and on guard for almost 12 years. When I was single and gone for work, the joke among my buddies was she’d let anybody into the house, but if you didn’t know where the treat jar was, you weren’t getting out. I will miss her. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...1d81b8968.jpeg |
