I learned a ton from this board over the years. Also learned a bunch about what NOT to do! I've made friends and had some great times thanks to OSO.

I don't come here as often as I used to. The tone definitely has changed but I think unfortunately so has the hobby and our lives in general. Leaving politics out of it, I think a lot of member's situations have changed as well. I don't even own a boat right now (hope to change that soon) so I don't post boating pictures anymore. I think a lot of members don't boat as much if at all anymore and that has a big effect.

I know it is winter in most of the country but I think every member with a boat should have to post photos every time they take their boats out! I will as soon as I get into another boat. That should liven things up a bit.

My life would be a whole lot more empty without this place. 11 yrs++ and I come here as much as I ever did. The archives alone cannot be replaced with anything close.

OS, so True, that why I spend a lot more time on the Viper sites, there everyone is there for 1 thing, the LOVE of Vipers. There is only 1 brand so it's much more harmony.

I recently posted what I thought could be a very productive post and what it turned into was disgusting. I finally asked to have it locked because of the no-filter bullsh!t people were saying. Really out of control. I joined in 2003, and back then it seemed more of a group of like-minded people who enjoyed communicating with each other. Everything changes................

What do we expect, you get a bunch of brand loyal alpha males with an abundance of testosterone together who are addicted to adreneline and speed, then remove their fix because of winter then add they have never met face to face and they talk smack behind a keyboard.

Not too surprising. Then these keyboard commandos think they know more than the members who really do walk the walk instead of talk smack.

We have seen it all on here since the beginning ................ There are only a handful of buzz kills on the site, but it has dramatically changed over the years from the original fledgling bulletin board before '02 to the 'NEW' site in the 2000's when it was fun and informative here, fast forward to the now big commercial site with IB ................ yes its changed alot, i rarely get on here, but my sons are always on here. as i get older these younger guys that are magazine mechanics always put there 2cents in, or the super money guys who couldnt tell the diff between the fuel fill neck, and the fresh water neck, just send it to so and so to have them change the air filter cause they dont know how, and winter really brings out the CREEPS 3 or 4 post and theyve stired up more crap than some in 1000post

Michigan was the number 1 boating state for many years. It's sad what has happened to our state. Anyway, I will stick around for the Great Lakes where if the unthinkable happens, nothing will eat you, you can drink the water, eventually you will hit shore and there is no salt to rot our expensive toys! There are plenty of winter activities too but lately mine has been mainly cutting and splitting firewood! :)

In my younger days before I was married I was stalked a few times by chicks, but never by a dude, some people are just naturally unhappy people, if I was that unhappy I would change what made me unhappy instead of *****in about it, but that's the easy way, back to the "less negativity part of this thread" thanks for the great comments.

I believe some folks are just jealous of many of you all. Others are frustrated that even when you have money you still have to have some knowledge to go along with it.

I'll give my 2 cents...

I spend a lot of time here reading the archives way more than the stuff that has been posted since I joined. I'm more interested in the technical stuff (setups, drive heights/set-back on hulls, power/drive combos, etc) with results than the shooting of BS. I wish more people would spend more time offering info than posting "nice boat" or post whoring. It's actually a serious pain in the ass to findIformation on here the way the search engine works and I've had to spend days wading through pages to get to one post that answers my question. I spent a long time street racing before getting back into boating so I'm used to the ****-talking but it's starting to infect all the decent threads on this message board.

What kills me about this site is the wealth of experience/knowledge of the members on here that hasn't gotten posted. I'd love to read threads on here started by flight club, lubejobs, gatorone, tborisch, etc about the boats they've built/upgraded and how they performed without reading through 12 pages of people commenting. The "meat and potatoes" if you will of boat performance.

That's a good Idea, I would love to read about and see picks of their boats, and the events they go to.

I really enjoy reading the threads that tell me about a great poker run, or a boating place that I would someday like to visit, or a about the pros and cons of one brand of boat vs another (not bashing) just peoples opinion about what they like or don't like about a particular model or brand.

I live in a small town with very few performance boats so I visit this site everyday and would really miss this site and the people on it if it didn't exist. Yes sometimes a post or even a poster will get me a little fired up but then I just say to my self "what a d**kh**d" and ignore the post or comment. Just as some of you are doing right now while reading my comment :evilb:

I miss the Chill Outs! They were a blast.

the gatherings of people from the internet world are/were great. boat shows, pool parties etc.... I remember heading to dreamers place after the Cleveland boat show one year, trying to follow wrinkleface thru construction detours, with a malfunctioning gps in the middle of a blizzard, then there is carrying a passed out drunk chick thru the hotel lobby at a pool party. There is a youtube video out there somewhere almost running over a bicycle cop, while drunk in a stolen (er borrowed, we took it back and they did leave the keys in it) golfcart. Definitly had some good times.

If you want happenings to happen, you have to make them happen. The board is corporate now, its not going to be putting on parties. So its up to the members now.

Should have another "Cleveland" area get together. I could probably coerce a couple members to come...

Any more thought on this in Richmond? With the return of Jammin on the James and the return of the Winter Chill Out would make for the Start of a Great Year!!!
