I can only guess $ is the answer to your next question. Less expensive to refurbish than to build new. High build quality, expensive toys. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwxorKnpnEI |

So is Chief Powerboats a continuation of the Apache legacy?
Those look like amazing machines. |

I see Apache Pete and Steve Nykamp are here....excellent! To my way of thinking, Allez Vite's lines, paint, power, pedigree and especially performance set a high standard for rough water offshore powerboats.

Allez Vite was built with C&G 850's. Several rebuilds by Randy, Carolina Racing and Tom Earhart got power over 900. Then went to Merc 1000 SC's for 1991 Key West and 1992 Coco Beach.

I've watched that Razz video more times than I can count. Even a turbine cat on flat water just doesn't seem as cool as that 41 putting 20ft of blue sky under it's hull.

The Hudson River and that water looks way too calm for Apaches.

The Skaters look cool running there though.

Fire water is down the road from me. There are several Apaches in AC.

WARHAWK was the very first boat to get the K drives, then AV. Pete did get AV to be the first one to run 100 plus!!!!

do these old hull ''age'' in terms of hull quality, rigidity and safety, for playing in the rough stuff? of course beside having wet transom or stringers... in other word, is a good 30 years hull still as good as a new hull?
|
Tommy's young in those pictures.
|
The Buffalo Apaches were Ultimate Warrior & War Dancer, now they are Geronimo and War Dancer.

Hey Ortho, sorry I missed this question. Here's my take on a proper answer. Mark McManus owns and builds/restores Apache Powerboats, Bobby Saccenti owns and builds Chief Powerboats.
Mcmanus builds submarines.... cold war anyone |
I gotta say I really like the newer style transom Mark was refurbishing some of these boats with (Carls Warhawk). Hes built some very bizarre stuff over the years. I don't think I've ever heard anyone who has brought a boat to either builder voice anything but high remarks. However, I'm just here for a beer.
I don't know how many times I've watched all these videos... |
Hey dreamer that sure is a less than intelligent post. My only suggestion is that you march down to Apache Powerboats and school him with your powerboat building know how. There are so many happy Apache owners and people that enjoy the brand and of course a select few unhappy nitwits like yourself that have to stink up a good thread with a post like that. Reading it is like opening a bag of ripe garbage. It's such old bygone bullchit. But I guess that is what you are all about.
|
Speaking of them. What are they up to down there? Never hear or see much from them. Especially in the past couple years

BA....The transom you are referring to is nice looking and does serve a purpose. It is for strength, an upgrade for todays increasing power demands. Consider the incredible stress on the transom (Spirit of Apache comes to mind) That's a lot of force! |

BA....They do brisk business refurbishing Apache Powerboats. Others like Steve Nykamp would know best, he has great knowledge concerning the boats/company and loves to share it. |
