Been down there a bunch of times always either Jamestown or State Dock. As already stated, both are great, ramps are steeeeep, unless the water level has changed since we were there, it's been awhile. Find party cove (something creek I can't remember) on the weekend and lots of nice hardware to be found. The water is really warm, but dirty compared to northern MI.

Ramps are still just as steep, just not as long now.

Ok, so I called lake cumberland park, next to state dock, and booked a cabin. Hung up and called state dock and they won't/don't reserve large wells. Said to call 2 days prior. That stinks....
Then called Jamestown and they said the same.
Both offered to reserve a 20' well with no power or water.
Wanted to stay 2 nights on boat and 4 in the cabin.

Try Grider Hill Marina. Just about 6-8 miles down the lake and they have a great marina and a motel right next door. They are also on the way to 76 Falls where everyone hangs out.
You should consider coming in for the Thunder Run which is the last weekend in June. Great Poker Run and a really good time to come and meet a lot of the local powerboaters.

Yep, that's how SD works. They told us because they don't have covered slips they rent out over night way in advance just in case someone comes along to lease them yr round. Usually they tell us to call the beginning of the week for the weekend we want. Once in a while we had squeezed by 2 weeks advance. Depends on who answers the phone at the time sometimes. Does make it hard to plan vacations in advance. What we have done is to take the uncovered just to guarantee a slip, then transfer to a covered slip the week we go. Never a problem yet. Poker run weekend is only time slips are almost impossible to get. ..rest of season no problem. This yr on poker run weekend, we just tied up along the walkway since we decided to go down just the day before. Was plenty of spots and SD didn't bat an eye. They are pretty accommodating IMO

We went this (last) year for the Poker Run. State Dock is a great marina - we stayed in the hotel rooms, and they aren't bad. A little dated but clean.
I wasn't quite as excited about trailer parking - at least on Poker Run weekend. It was a mess, but not much they can do.
