Lake Cumberland....never been, need opinions
Hello,
Thinking of trailering down next summer. I have a few questions: - where can get a slip? A decent place with shore power and good shower facilities, family friendly. - how much time should I plan on staying? What is there to do? - any navigation issues I should be aware of? - any times NOT to go? What else can you tell me?? |

When I was there for the poker run it was dry..... And get your drinks early. We had to turn around cuz we crossed the "line" about an hour away

Somerset is now wet. The towns and the west end of the Lake(Jamestown, State Dock, Grider Hill) are still dry.

ahh, thought I heard something like that. we use to go down there every year and rent the biggest houseboat state dock had. we always brought 100% of everything we needed for the long weekend. always had a great time down there. |
I haven't been down since 06' but if I was to go next summer I would probably pick Conley Bottom. Huge wide launch and very friendly plus it's in the middle of the lake right on the main body. Lee's Ford is nice also but a very very steep road getting to the marina be sure your trailer brakes are in tip top shape.
Always a blast there. |
You'll love Cumberland anytime between April thru October. Been on most large inland lakes in the US and can honestly say Cumberland is the best kept secret out there. It's 100 mile long with 1200 mile of shoreline making it one of the largest lakes in North America. Jamestown and Statedock Marina's are pretty much "World Class" facilities. I believe Statedock currently has the distinction of being the largest inland Marina in the country.
Tman is correct most of the lake counties are dry. |
Thanks for the info thus far!

Jamestown looks really nice......pool closed until further notice though. That is a deal breaker, my daughter loves the pool!
