"Hole life" sounds a lot more fun ............Had to say it

commandersander 01-01-2014 10:15 AM

I find I bizarre that some turn this into an attack on the op.

If the guy wasn't a confirmed di&k (recognized by more than one person) via random encounter, this now 9 page thread would not exist.

Fact is, guy is a di&k.

Unfortunately, he's a di&k with a boat.....

motor 01-01-2014 10:29 AM

If someone hadn't whined and put it on here ??? I meet dics everyday ,but i'm not going to whine about it..........Move along.
If you don't want a comment on something ,,,don't post it .......good or bad

Are you like this? Why would anyone act this way? Just wondering

You didn't say anything about his height did you?

Probably not Junior ......but IMHO, if you are going to try and convince everyone that you know more than us old folks, using bad grammar and making spelling errors, that a 3rd grader would not make, is not going to help get your point accepted

I agree with a couple posts.......the ramp is usually the most stressful part of boating, especially for those that do not launch/retrieve regularly. My wife tries to help but she's such a basket-case at the ramp I've changed her job to "pack up our towels and drinks" while I do the rest.

I tell my wife "just stand there and look pretty!" lol, she's actually a good helper.

could it have been that he was pissed that his 42 foot boat felt more like a 39 footer ?

Velocity Vector 01-02-2014 12:13 AM

When I launch, I put on a fake knee brace and get out of the truck with a set of old crutches. I always get a lot of help from other boaters, They basically get my boat in the water for me while I watch and direct them. After they get it tied to the dock I'll hang out a little till they are gone.

Then, I throw the crutches in the back of the truck, take off the brace, grab my ice chest and and run to the boat. But I am polite through the whole process and thank them for the help. Same way when I go to a concert I role in with an old wheelchair and always seem to get on the front row. It seems people are willing to help more and be more polite to someone in need, plus it makes them feel good about themselves they helped someone.

The correct answer to this scenario is that he thought that you were the repo man !

Not only Grammar...... I'm the kind of guy that will tell a stranger that he has snot hanging out his nose and not allow him to walk around and look foolish. He's probably a great kid but his keyboard strokes take something away from that illusion. Just throwing out a little advice.... he is free to take it or leave it, just as you would be free to tell your S.O. she has snot hanging or let her walk around that way.

Seems to fit in the "Questions about people" thread.

Comanche3Six 01-02-2014 10:54 AM

Sometimes its the opening comment "Nice Cigarette boat" or he simply may have complimented the man's wife "You're grand daughter looks stunning". People are so uptight.

Speedracer29 01-02-2014 11:26 AM

If I'm at the dock or sandbar and see a nice boat, I'll throw a compliment to the owner. If I get the "holier than thou" face, I'll add a line like "I had NO IDEA Bayliner made anything like that", and quickly walk away before they can correct me.

huskyrider 01-02-2014 11:37 AM

For myself, launching at a public boatramp is typically the worst tine to be approached.
But, I've never been a peckerhead about it and have actually asked one or two if they can assist in exchange for a quick boat ride when I've had a daughter with me.
Funny thing is I've actually felt the same as ICU once ot twice when interacting with some other boaters who don't think Baja's are real boats too!!!
I was actually laughing to myself wondering if this owner is a member or a lurker here as I'm sure he's probably aware of the website.
I absolutely agree on being friendly to people everytime your towing or out in the drink.
You never know when you'll see someone or need something again as you became a victim of the Texas triangle.
For those not in the know;
The Texas triangle is that no matter how large your state is, there will be one moment you need something or someone and the first person you see is the one you tossed off.

See ya,
Kelly

I hate people who are diks at the ramp / track / car show / etc. I honestly could care less about all the attention the cars and boats attract, but it's an unavoidable part of the deal. I love sharing my stuff with people who are genuinely interested.

Look how much time most of us hang out here talking about boats with each other. Nothing makes my day more than when I get to show someone around the boat, talk motors, and answer legit questions for someone who truly is curious. Same goes for the car stuff.

I enjoy the smart ass comments too, and usually have a smart ass response. I'm getting older, but I still look pretty young. Used to get "Daddy's car / truck / boat" etc comments all the time. I used to reply with "Sorry your dad hates you", and laugh at them or something along those lines. I have always worked hard for what I have, and when I bought my first Porsche at 18 (A 944 Turbo) I used to love explaining to the toothless hill billies that I spent less on my POOORSH than they spend on smokes and booze in a year. Usually shut them up.

And for the OP, he's just pizzed he has a fountain :party-smiley-004:

Turbo,

I tell people that all the time too. I have a 993 that I use as a daily driver… Love my car… It is just a Carrera, but it has the whale tale, sport, and aerodynamics package so it looks cool… People think I spent a tone of cash on it… It was not cheap but it was not out of site either… It is just a great car and have had few problems…

As for the main focus of the thread…

Maybe Im a jabber jaw, but I don't mind talking to people and I try to learn something knew everyday…

Happy New Years...

LOL!!! with our lake down again last summer I only slipped her in the drink once.
Yesterday she ran out of 55 gallon drums with water/antifreeze in preparation for last night's cold weather.
We were anticipating 29 degrees, YUK
I hope you guys didn't get slammed by all the nasty white stuff I saw on the weather channel last night, DOUBLE YUK!!!

I've always loved your pic's, you should bring that pimped out custom Duke of New York Carrera down this way.
Trust me, you'll be a major hit with our SE Texas Brudda's.
You just got to be nice when hit with a barrage of questions while unloading her off the trailer LOL!!!

See ya,
Kelly
