So that's why I cant ride a cruiser on the street. Its an adrenaline that nobody can match so why even mess around or try it. So I guess I need to try it out. Guess I will look for some people around Lake Erie. Does the Coast Guard mess with you guys? I just don't want any trouble!!

if you know your way around a boat and practice good boating edquet and common sense you will stay out of trouble. Best thing would be to hook up with some of the chy town peeps like Mild 12 m Joe or icc dead people. they will show you the ropes of High perf boating and skanks..:lolhit: because that is reason # 2 . the skanks. Yeah a 50 foot sea ray will land you some skanks .. But they mey be a bit too classy for the life style we live.. lol

Actually, they do. Sevaral in my marina that came stock with thru hull :) And a lot of (gulp) houseboats.

My cruiser ran right at 48 with the stock 3 bladed props. Lost some speed when I went to 4 blades. So I can hang with many while running, while the wife is below fixing dinner, and the guest are using the chitter. :)

Buddy of mine has a 35' cruiser with twin 454s and thru hull exhaust. His boat actually sounds tough when he opens the Captains call. Surprised me the first time I heard it!!

My wife and I just looked at a 32 Sundancer at Marine Max, she asked the salesman what the cruise speed was and he replied about 25 mph, her reply, " If we are going to lunch, I would like to get there before dinner." That's why I am having a 496 HO with thru hull exhaust installed starting Monday !

Thats pretty Funny but so true!! Surprised he knew the cruise speed!!

Get yourself a Fountain. They are light, very well tuned and agile. If you get the right power you can get that feeling from the racetrack back.. Trust me i know. When you get a 38 up around a hundred mph it begins to feel really good. Nothing like Turn 1 at Brainerd on a Graves gixxer thou. But its a lot of fun. :D

Checkmate283 01-03-2014 01:31 PM

If you can swing it, own both! I have a 2007 Sea Ray 310 Sundancer with inboards and thrusters. Boat is loaded and my family and I love it. When I feel like blasting around the bay I got a 30ft single that does 75mph. Im getting bored of my Checkmate 300 so highly considering 30 Activator with 800hp or 28-30 skater or spectre w/ outboards

SS930 01-03-2014 01:38 PM

Speedy, can we have an IP check in isle 4 please???

harleyeater 01-03-2014 01:43 PM

I am considering that option

My boat is in contract and looking at getting a 1999 340 Sundancer. So i wouldn't mind having something for speed to blast around in.

Just wanted to know a little about the different boats that you guys have. That is all no hidden agenda.

thirdchildhood 01-04-2014 01:32 PM

We enjoy driving our boats fast. It's fun and it satisfies a need for speed or adrenaline or something that a lot of us have. It also makes it much faster to get to an off-shore destination. I often cruise to Put-in-Bay which is 80 miles each way. It would take hours in a cruiser.

mmb 01-04-2014 01:41 PM

Pretty simple for me. Wife hated the race car and loves to boat. I said if I sell the race car we are getting a bad ass boat! Now I have my hot rod on the water and she gets to wear her bikinis and go boating!!

A street race car can get you in big trouble. On the Great Lakes I can legally go as fast as I want, be as loud as I want and race other boats if I want. :)

No I guess that was the answer I was looking for !! Coast Guard doesn't mess with you? Are you ever at PIB?

The Coasties have been very good to me. Just have your paperwork and proper equipment. If you are wearing life jackets you are already on their good side! I like to go to PIB several times a year. Sometimes for overnighters and sometimes just for a $700 lunch run. :)

Yeah, but those hrs would be a blast! I must be getting old, the journey getting there is part of the fun. Not sure whats better, getting there faster either by yourself or 1 other couple, or getting there later with 5-6 other couples.

Don't get me wrong, there was a time I'd answered the go fast way hands down, but now........ ;)

I love the drive there too and we usually take a break at Detroit and another break at the Detroit River Light before the final run across Lake Erie, which can get interesting in a 22' boat. I can see how partying in a cruiser could be fun but for me it's about running as fast as conditions permit.

Yes, its a Columbus OH IP address

H20 Toie 01-04-2014 04:50 PM

I sold my cig and bought a 40' formula 400ss
Having a cruiser that can do 60 mph seemed to be the best of both worlds

Didn't take long till I bought another cig

Now having both is the hot ticket

VtSteve 01-04-2014 06:01 PM

If you just bought a Top Gun, you wouldn't have to change your screen name. That's a pretty easy decision.

Unlimited jd 01-04-2014 06:53 PM

Who picks "mr top gun" as a screen name yet doesn't realize why that's the boat to have....

moderatedUser23082018 01-04-2014 07:03 PM

Horse Power,, Rumble, Speed, Sexy lines, Sunshine, Speed, adrenaline, acceleration, Etc Etc etc

gofastlvr 01-04-2014 09:37 PM

I have been a go-fast guy for years and I started hanging out with cruiser folks a few years back and now I have a 540 Sea Ray and I love it for sure. If I had to make a choice it would probably be the cruiser just because we stay on it all the time and it is awesome to have 20 friends out to party all day.

Now the go fast boats as stated earlier are a sickness without a cure. The speed is so addictive and the HP and the women in bikinis and the attention is something that cannot be matched or described. If you can stand both then it is great but losing all the amenities would be tough going from a cruiser to a go fast. Now there are some cross overs from Formula and Fountain but honestly they aren't good at either so I would suggest make a choice. They are small cruisers that go sort of fast unless you find a 48EC Fountain with big power you are stuck in between...

mcprodesign 01-04-2014 09:45 PM

The hot ticket is to have a buddy who can afford a huge cruiser, and have your own fast boat with a lounge, bathroom etc. That way when you and a few chickas decide to head out you are the envy of every man stuck on that huge terd of a cruiser the rest of the night.

ICDEDPPL 01-05-2014 12:37 AM

Cruisers all look the same, boooooring.
My main thing is with a cruiser you`re stuck whereever you keep it, I like to see and explore new locations not same ol same ol every weekend

ChrisL 01-05-2014 06:26 AM

You don't have to go 125 mph to feel the difference is a cruise vs a power boat. I had a 24 Outlaw for many years that went about 60 mph and loved it but wanted something a little bigger and was looking at a 28 Sundancer because of the room and layout. I took it for a test drive and I can only describe it as it felt like I was driving a tub. I hated the ride but loved the layout. I just could never own one. Maybe when I'm older but I am 44 now so not a spring chicken so I don't see a cruise in my future. The ride is so different and now with the new Donzi I just bought I would say I have the bug!
