Need advice on new boat (men only)

After completeing a new garage, I noticed that my 25 Baja is much to small for it. I need advice on convincing the wife that I need a new boat to fill up the area. How would you guys handle this situation :D :D :D

Raypanic 08-12-2002 06:44 AM

Buy what you want let her find out about it later. The suffering will occur either way, It is just easier to handle the suffering while sitting in you new boat in your new garage.:p

Easier to get forgivenes then permission.

yahoo 08-12-2002 07:34 AM

I always say it is easier to beg for forgiveness than ask for permission.

A little like the previous post.

Every boat I purchased was harder than pulling teeth to get the wife to agree. To the point where each time I was 30 seconds from just giving up, and forgetting the whole thing. but the persistance paid off.

1 18 1/2' Rinker
2 21 Liberator
3 272 Formula

go the finance route. get all the numbers put together. with interest rates so low, if you buy a NEWER boat, you can get a longer term loan ( just don't risk getting upside down of course)
and your payment (if you have one) may be LESS!!!!

boat loans fixed are about 7%, home fixed, 6 3/8, variable home equity 5 1/4 !!! and if it qualifies, you get to write off interest at tax time

and don't take no for an answer, wear her down, she'll break
we're happy now with our Formula ;) but it was a long road.....

good luck,

oh, get a potential buyer for the baja too, gotta sell the whole package

You have to get a boat with a "Woman's Cabin." It has to have all the stuff from home like; a frige, sink , shower, and non portable pottie. Most woman don't care about power and speed, but the only time they care about size is when they get a big cabin.

Consintracy 08-12-2002 08:27 AM

I would love to help you out (from a woman's point of view). But, you said ("men only"). Good Luck....he he he:D

You can try to work the safety angle. Tell her how much safer a bigger boat will be. If that does not work just find a boat that has a real nice crapper. That is usually high on their list.

The easiest thing to find is fault. Think about it.

Boat Girl 08-12-2002 11:04 AM

I am with you Tracy, Rick you should be asking the women of this board the question of how to convince your wife...If men knew how women think, you wouldnt have to ask this question...A womans point of view could really help your cause...

cigarette1 08-12-2002 01:10 PM

Just take her out in some BIG water with the smaller boat and then tell her of a much larger one for sale at a price you can't walk away from.

For you ladies .... I don't think he wants a girlie boat :D

Boat Girl 08-12-2002 01:27 PM

Hey, I'm not into girlie boats either, my most recent boat ride, 41 legend with full staggered 900's, it was awesome...I like go fast boats...

ursus 08-12-2002 01:36 PM

audacity 08-12-2002 01:39 PM

Griff 08-12-2002 03:22 PM

Take her to LOTO over Labor DayWeekend. It will scare the crap out of her and she'll be the one sayin' "We need a bigger boat" Then all you have to do is agree:D :D
