In SFO for two weeks... What to do?

Here for two weeks. Saw lots of water on my way in. Aside from spending too much on sushi right now what is there to do?

Ride the cable cars
a world famous irish cofee at the Buena vista
Boudin sourdough bread
get fresh crab at the wharf
walk up to Coit tower
china town
49ers football
pier 39
haight ashbury
cross the golden gate bridge
napa / sonoma wine tasting
ride the bart train
carnelian room at night atop B of A building for the view
alcatraz tour is a must

thats enough for one day assuming you did not bring the boat

The W hotel lobby/bar is always hopping.

Plan your trip to the GG accordingly with weather. It's useless if there is fog. There is a park you can pull over and take pictures and take it all in, just on the far side, on the right. You can park and walk the bridge as well.

http://rubyskye.com/ is my favorite club there.

Ride the street car down to http://www.fishermanswharf.org/ and the turnaround. The area is always bustling. Watching the street cars turnaround is pretty cool for a bit.

http://www.palomino.com/ is probably my favorite restaurant in the area. I've taken many clients there and it's always superb.

If you want to tour Alcatraz, schedule it now cause it usually sells out around 2 weeks in advance.

Cross the Golden Gate and have a margarita in Sausalito. While on that side go up to battery spencer, the views are incredible from there. Have breakfast at the Cliffhouse and take a drive down the coast towards Halfmoon bay and Santa Cruz.

Whatever you do- DON'T ride the Bart train!! Lol

deepv29 01-06-2014 02:04 PM

Ok I will admit..been a few years since riding the bart..like many things of good intention, probably got dangerous. Skip the bart. Good call on Sausalito.

North Beach for good italian food. Dont forget Lombard Street..good photo op.

Do all the above & then have lunch at Sam's...I think you'll have to go to Santa Clara next year to see the Niners :(.

If you like spicy food, try Hunan Restaurant at 924 Sansome St. Order a Tsingtao beer and enjoy. http://henryshunanrestaurant.com/men...estaurant.html

All great ideas so far, if you cross the GG there is a park up on the other side with a great view of the Bridge and San Fran.
My wife always goes to Ghirardellii for some chocolate and it would be worth finding out what show is playing at the Orpheum theater.

Too bad your a few weeks late, you could have possibly seen the last game ever at the Stick!

We stayed by the Warf and caught a ride on one of the fishing boats docked there doing tours out to GG. Had a blast and it was Bring your own Beverages on boat.
As for Alcatraz- better make res early. Height was pretty cool too.
Then went for a Real SF ride in rental car- A local family member was driving our rental- I guarantee we caught some AIR!! Had a blast, cant wait to go back.

Hit the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I think it's an hour South.

If you like seafood go to the farallon and if you like farmers markets, on Saturday morning at fisher mans warf they have the best one I've been to. Go hungry and the healthy in shape woman at this farmers market was very nice also.

If you have at least a whole day, drive north to the Avenue of Giants, a truly humbling experience…If you want to turn it into two days, drive further north to the coast…They either call it the lost or the forgotten coast…either way it's pretty spectacular! An absolutely amazing part of the country.
