the ones in the front are 32 maximus 5bl 15 5/8 i tried from bblades. I loved them so i purchased them. Also pics if custom spkask plates i made outa stainless. The props were to big to run stadard spkash plates so i recessed them. See pics. The next set are 32 herings 5 blade 15.5 i bought from jeff at hering. I got 5600 rpms outa those. The last set bblades sent me to try .mystery 4 blades. Never had splash plates before so maybe that eill help. Plus found 1/8" twist in a skeg. We will see tomorrow. Just my son , nanny and myself. Should be a lot of fun !!

Ok. Saw the vid. Where's the nanny? Haha

12meter joe 01-23-2014 03:31 PM

Im with him on this one^^^^

Ran-Dom 32 01-23-2014 03:46 PM

to much extra weight... he left them on the dock  & they forgot to bring helmets.. lol

mcprodesign 01-23-2014 04:09 PM

Hary frickin har har. When you run a shootout they make you wear one so there must be a reason for it. When you test, test everything. Driving a boat with a helmet takes a little bit of getting used to. You guys preaching from the snowbank in your back yard ! Lol

Dammit man!! No more posting if it isn't the nanny!! Haha

Wildman_grafix 01-23-2014 08:55 PM

Didn't you have some issue with the drives at different heights? What did you find out about that?

It helped me identify which old race boat it actually was because when i spoke to the original owner he remembered that. It seems to be a non issue though same rpms on each motor at wot .i did some bottom blueprinting took some material off and added sone and picked up 4 mph. Its a half inch

mcprodesign 01-24-2014 01:14 AM

Wildman. What you are seeing in the slow cruise part of the video is...the one drive trimmed lower. One drive trims faster up and down so i set both drives even at 5 then trim it down a bit to get started. Thats why its crooked. When i trim it back up the one drive is faster and catches up to be at the same level at 5. you can see at wot it is pretty level .( hard to see if they are exactly the same again on the trim guage at WOT with a helmet on :lolhit:) At the begining of the video I was screwin with tabs, trying to get them exact at 2

Chad, a 1/2 inch change in drive height on my 03 525 Lightning made a huge difference. I was able to run props that I could not run or even get on plane with before I added a 1/2 inch spacer. The boat went from running 91/92 mph to a solid 98. The prop shafts were 1/2 inch above the bottom of the boat, were 3/4 inch before the spacer, with semi-stager and extension boxes.

Testing the only thing were testing up here is trying not to freeze your ba--s off.

Nice video by the way!

To tell you the truth I never made it through the whole video, just remembered you saying that some time ago and was wondering,,,,,,

Either way I am wondering, how much did you pick up with the shorties? I have someone saying I should put -2's on my 32 (the drives are DEEP) but not sure I care to spend the money.

mcprodesign 01-24-2014 11:08 AM

If you can go up to thee surface . Id say yea, because you can run surface props. If you are 6 inches below the bottom and would go to 4 I would say no. the actual stock case (if it is underwater ) is faster than a sportmaster. Spend the time and money making sure your bottom is blueprinted perfect. That gave me 4 mph

Yes. But when I ran your 6 bl 32's It was really hard for my side by side to get on plane. Thats why I went back to 5bl. As far as the half in., you have a point, because when I go on plane both motors have to run 4500 with the herings to get on plane. Just about when he crests the motor that is a 1/2 higher (-5/8 cl ) breaks loose and the only thing puttin me over is the motor on the right barely stayin caught. So the 1/2 deeper is saving my ass.( X Fountain factory race boat, maybe they did it for a reason, that and turning left.) At sea level with less than 130 gallons of fuel itl break a hundred. Pretty sure, 1265' is some thin air.. Woulda been a good run you and I with your old 38 ;)

after further inspection. Drives are the same highth. The star fuel tank has more fuel that the port tank. That is why it is leaning in the vid. I forgot i had 3 girls filling a fuel tank for a dock photo shoot. I never put fuel in the other tank. I just figured that out lol!
