4'-6' off Montauk heading into Block Island Sound, shot out head into it, it increased to solid 6's, they were close proximity. Ran about 95-110 right into it on top. Went way up a few times but came back down solid. That was in jackets and everyone knew what we were running in. Always exhilarating none the less...

Have run in 6-8s but that's trough running, not quite the same as running head on into it over the tops...

...and of course who can forget leaving Key West 2012....that was some nasty chit...

Western Lake Erie is one of the most unpredictable and dangerous sections of the Great Lakes. Winds blowing down the length of the lake coupled with the shallow water make things very rough indeed. The waves come from all directions with giant holes. I know. I make the run to PIB several times a year. Like I said in an earlier post, I crossed it in 6-8s at idle speed from PIB to west of Middle Sister Island at idle speed. It looked like Alaska's Deadliest Catch but to scale. I was climbing giant waves and taking water over the bow on each one but chopped the throttle and the water never came over the wind screen. I was still plenty wet and cold from the spray. It was nuts but I knew from experience and talking with other boaters that day that the worst of it was by the islands and that I would know right away if I could run in it or not. I could beach on Middle Sister Island in an emergency too but that is Canada so I don't know how they would react. Anyway, I made it home but it was not an enjoyable cruise!

C'mon Ted??? Even Parnell says you're full of chit. 8-10s and running 55???? Funny some of the best drivers out there and guys that have 20yrs at the helm can't do that unless in a 41 or 47. Maybe u should consider that your boat draws 2-3ft so sitting in the water waves look bigger.

Headed out east

Could not turn around... Had to ride it out

It was following seas so I was lucky and spaced far apart for Erie

Up at an angle and down the other side

Lucky the way the waves where coming from( NW)
And my heading (NE)

Once I was in it there was no turning back and I got out at chagrin river

They were 8s. There was an occasional 10 obviously slowed way down for the biggies

I thought we were not gonna make it.... Should never have attempted it... There were 3 foot rollers in the river in front of shooters!
