Questions for Mid-Chesapeake Boaters

I'm thinking about trailering my 28' down to the Chesapeake this weekend from CT. I have a few questions for those that run in the Kent Island/Annapolis general area:

1) Is there a public launching ramp on Kent Island or the Narrows. I'll be staying in Easton. Is there a better place to launch?

2) What are some cool places to go in that area?

3) Is the city dock in Annapolis worth the trip across or is it a headache?

4) What wind directions make for nasty boating?

5) I've heard that it's pretty shallow in the bay, are the shallows well marked on the charts or do they shift around.

Thanks in advance.

Yes there is a ramp at the Narrows directly across from Red Eye's. Stop bt a sporting goods store and pick up a ramp pass(public)
There are also ramps in St. michael's which is also close to Easton-also public.

Red Eye's is cool. St Michael's is nice-check out the Crab Claw. If you go north to Rock Hall, Waterman's crab house is the ticket. Red Eye's has bikini contests on Sunday afternoon:D

Profiling through "Ego Alley"in Annapolis is cool. If you can tie up at Pusser's and have a few Painkillers it is even cooler;)

Wind from the north or the south can make things bumpy, Annapolis is always bumpy, and watch the current in the Narrows. A 28 should be fine unless conditions are unusual.

All channels tend to be well marked, another rule of thumb is if you are surrounded by crab pot floats you have enough water. Just don't run over the bastards....

Any other questions let me know. It really is a great place to boat.

pretty much everything Ted said, if the bay gets real ruff there are plenty of big river hang outs to go to to get out of the ruff.

And stay away from the clam beds at NIGHT.......:)
And I haven't seen ruff yet......

The list goes on 45-60min south of where you are at too. Hey, in my neck of the woods:D

Just let us know where you will be at and I am sure an OSO member will be near there, I think OSO's "Bucky" lives in Easton.

BTW, yes, plenty of water everywhere, many ships come up the bay to Baltimore daily.
