Seas

Lets talk actual seas. Not NOAA reports. I run offshore in the GOM For a living. 28 days at a time. Weather is something I have to monitor and know. These are true 8s seen in the videos. I am on a 150ft boat and 30ft off the waterline.

That guy needs to learn how to work the sticks. If he'd just get up on top of them he wouldn't have any trouble. Operator error. :bong:

Needs to trim it a bit more with less tab.

Actual seas vs. NOAA. I'm confused , you saying you have a better, more accurate way to measure waves than NOAA? According to you those are 8'ers because you have a measuring stick or a long tape measure? How's that work exactly Ooooh maybe one of those fancy laser measuring tapes??

Crude Intentions 01-24-2014 01:32 PM

Because unless its buoy data a NOAA prediction is just that a prediction. And yes I've gotten really good at measuring seas based on being next to a fixed structure (oil platform) and watching how high and low the water goes.

Now, that is big water. You can tell by the way the wave breaks at the top the whitecap just before the big one that wetted you down. That looked to me like a 10?

They were still building. It was clocking 57 knots on the windbird. Thankfully I was almost in the jedis before it got too nasty. Solid consistent 8s and building.

ICU L,

are you a captain? if so, what tonnage do you carry. That is big water!

what do you do that you have to be out for 28 days at a time?

I am. Currently 100 master near coastal upgrading to 500. I run supply boats out to the oilfield.

Here's some 4 to 8s. Good example of how video makes the water look smaller.
