P&D Boats

A friend of mine just went to Fla. to pickup a 24 P&D I don't know much about them, just that everybody compairs them to the 24 Pantera. What are your thoughts and how do they ride and how are they built??

SkaterMike82 01-26-2014 10:44 AM

They were built buy Pedro & Dominique. Actually the first 2 or 3 Pantera's were P&D but under Pantera's. After that Pantera went on their own. They look similar but no where built the same. Most of them had a HUGE hook on their bottoms.

Had a P&D it was PD on vin, title said manufacturer was magnum. So I'm guessing magnum wound up with the molds? It's racing OPA now Hurricane Force I believe.

I thought P& D are Martinis and not Magnum.

SkaterMike82 02-02-2014 12:15 AM

^^^^ none of the above are associated with each other....

Title said magnum vin matched on boat and started with PD I figured P&D otherwise that's some coincidence.

I own the second pantera hull made. 1977 hull #002. It has a "wcw" (pantera) HIN number. I know the original owner and see him occasionally so I know the history of my boat from when it was commissioned to be built. Pepe also confirmed what the original owner told me.

The first 3 (maybe 4, depending on who you ask) had a round "p&d" or "Excalibur" style deck but were layed up by pantera.

Here's a pic of the first hull (wcw 001) and you can see the rounded deck:

The one pictured was layed up by P&D but carried the Pantera name. This one is the 1st Pantera... Ask Pepe or Joe and they will confirm. That was told to me by Pepe himself several yrs ago as we have a really close bond.

All those skinny boats were born from a 23' Magnum mold built by Hary Schoell for Aronow. Harry desiigned and built the mold, not a plug and mold. About a hundred boat compan
ies got their start with that.

Hary Schoell also designed Active Thunder's AVH (Active Ventilated Hull) single step/pad bottom hull and they run great!! It's an advanced design of the DDC hull....

Flyinlow -

its starting to grow on me - I thought about pulling the windshield and preparing the topside for some
fresh urethane white - I appreciate the good wishes - the boat is starting to grow on me most-likely because of its practicality
down here in SWFL - something to bring any where and drop it in " I still dont have very much info on how many were made this is the first one I have seen :)

Harry Schoell built the first 24. Its a 1970 Delta Magnum named after two of his other projects at the time.

Fun boats, I had a 24 python for my first boat, pretty much the same hull....rounded bottom. Tricky to drive at first I kept getting blow out, but about 10 hours of seat time cured that. They like to go fast, not a very good ride at speeds below 50mph, but probably the best ride for its size at 55+ and will handle a 3ft lake chop very well.

^^^ Long time buddy, how’s it going Andy?

TexomaPowerboater 09-19-2018 01:10 PM
