My self I prefer the cold you can always throw on some layers.. when its hot as **** theres nothing you can do to cool off .(at work) Being in HVAC I suffer so much more in the summer outside. My tools and the equipment gets so hot you can`t even touch it, I sweat thru many shirts a day, can`t see with sweat dripping down my face, come home completely drained, my office staff hates summer cause I`m not a happy camper.. actually one of the big reasons I got a boat is so i could cool off on the weekends.
To me this has been the best winter ever.
As long as you know how to dress I don`t see the big deal.

Thanks for the weather report......Now lets get back to something relevant, that girl in your avatar! Is she your girlfriend/wife? It seems she is in various poses on your avatar but it appears to be the same girl. Can we get Jayboat to do a feature on her or something? :D

Jupiter Sunsation 02-28-2014 08:10 AM

Just to put the snow thing in perspective.....My wife/kids have never seen a single snowflake! The trendy thing to do in Flariduh is go skiing for spring break......Almost annually my wife will mention, "we should take the kids skiing"....then I have to do the math for her:
1. No clothes, figure $1200 to outfit a family of 4 with winter clothes (Walmart type stuff, not Northern Face)
2. Tickets- figure $4000 for 4 airline tickets/lift tickets/ couple ski clinics
3. Hotel/food- $3500 for the week

$8700+++ and the kids will be crying about the cold, falling on their butts the whole week......safe to say, we haven't booked a trip!

Meanwhile at my family's place in Eagle River, Alaska (30 miles north of Anchorage):

Snow = fun, temps below 0, just plain sucks. Even with a hot tub. Our oldest is now living at Fort Bragg NC and gives us regular forecasts and opinions about the locals. The fact that they close schools and are told to stay inside / home when they get an inch of snow is just plain weak. Grow a pair already and learn how to drive.

I'm with "Mild" on this one though. Rather summer being longer than winter. I don't need a 6 month layup to get the mods done.

I agree though, Florida might be a little extreme with the humidity, bugs, and what not, but I definitley wouldnt mind somewhere ''MILDER". IDK, maybe Tennessee or some $hit. California is out, too many earthquakes, fires, and PP wavers, Texas is all steers and queers... SO cross those 3 states off the list.

Move to LOTO punk!

wish i could help ya brother. I spent 28 years in Minnesota. Snowmobiling and Hockey is all I miss. And ocational ice fishing ( kinda like looking up the chimney to shoot a duck though)

the deep 02-28-2014 02:31 PM

Big storm on the way Sunday thru Monday and their saying two feet plus up in these mountains . :poopoo:

Pismo10 02-28-2014 02:38 PM

This is why you drain everything as last step.

thirdchildhood 02-28-2014 03:18 PM

This is unheard of Michigan. We shattered the record low by 17*. I guess it will all be worth it when it's 90* and I'm on the Great Lakes.

12meter joe 02-28-2014 03:21 PM

I agree but, I'm a little worried the water temp might not warm up till August with all this ice!! :angry-smiley-055:

ICDEDPPL 02-28-2014 05:12 PM

The water levels arent going to be low this year thats for sure. Lots of snow and no evaporation.

The Ice is an insulator, it`ll probably be just as warm as last year.

I lived in SD for some 20+ years, nothing like a 3 am carne asada burrito!! but the sun tax.... I was working 12 hour shifts 6~7 days a week to be broke... A friend of mine sold a manufactured home, basically a glorified doublewide in RB with a Nazi HOA for 389/k in less than a week and that was in 2003

LOL!!! So were my grandchildren. The weather was fabulous until about 8:30pm. Sittin out in the pavillion in swimshorts drinking beer and 15 minutes later running in for sweat pants/shirt. The first breeze of the front was 5+ degrees cooler and it was near freezing quickly. Can't believe how fast it was upon us.

My heart truly breaks for all the up north of Dallas people, Y'all have been hammered hard this winter and especially in the middle north and northeast.

See ya,
Kelly

hotseeter 03-03-2014 07:39 PM

Got mine in a heated garage thank god! We are going on 69 straight days of below 0 in northern MN!, has been the most miserable winter I remember in 37 years up here. We have seen 17! Nights of -40 to -60 below this year and propane has gone up to $5 plus a gallon along with 6 ft of snow it's horrible,,,,

abones 03-03-2014 08:18 PM

I feel for ya man! We have cold as well, not quite as bad as your area, and we have as much snow! I hear it is going to get into the high 30s and stay there next week!! LET'S HOPE SO..

airjunky 03-03-2014 09:17 PM

Had a hard freeze in dfw area in about 09-2010 could almost hear the blocks popping and cracking across the metroplex .took a lot of gen 6 454's out of circulation .On my personal boat I winterize with green for corrosion protection , have drive down in a tub with a bilge pump running to muffs ,recirculating the green that comes out back through for about 10 min or so .( after draining out lake water first ) 15 year old manifolds and risers still look minty mint inside with no off season aging from leftover lake swill moisture ..drain and reuse next winter

abones 03-04-2014 06:26 PM

OH NO!! Now I'm worried out of what's left of my mind!! TODAY I seen a Redish/Orange ball in the sky traveling slowly from the EAST to the WEST, coincidently the air temp shot up to +19 degrees, I'm worried this could be the start of that GLOBAL WARMING that so many are talking about. Are the Oceans going to rise 2FT this summer? are we all going to turn to dust this year? PLEASE TELL ME I'M JUST PARINOID.......

the deep 03-04-2014 06:48 PM

I burned enough heating oil , wood and propane so far it surly should help to warm the earth a bit .
