Sent a text - hoping to go look at it this week !!!

I'm not trying to sound negative at all but I'm gonna guess that boat is going to be boring with 330 454s in it, and if those motors only have 12 hours on it someone must have hastily installed them for a sale because the bilge looks filthy, and the rigging is shoddy at best. Look at the starboard motor fuel line just from the picture there's a coupling and 3-4 hose clamps with the line running straight out of the water separator. seems carelessly thrown together, not that it couldn't be fixed and tidied up but now the wallet is immediately opened after the purchase. Also with the old pictures I'm gonna guess it was a race boat? Maybe check the history on it or I'm sure someone on here is going to know the scoop. Let us know how it looks in person

I would look hard. Looks a bit rough and a previous race boat. That boat should be in the low 30's in this market. The motors are two bolt main cast crank and piston "throw away" engines. I would guess that boat only runs in the 70's and the insurance won't be much cheaper either. I could be very wrong though, good luck with your search

Thanks guys, just text him tonight and probably won't hear back till morning. I did notice the motors looking a bit rough and the bilge looking dirty. I'll take a better look at it hopefully soon!

I agree with the others. Be very careful and GET an inspection by a reputable marine surveyor if you are still serious after seeing it. Its just too dirty and those motors are almost certainly no name rebuilds done for a quick sale. Why not get larger V hull first as your next boat? You would be very happy with a good used 33 Outlaw. I had one before the Fountain and it was a great boat.

I also know a '97 38 Special the guy has been trying to sell for over a year for too much and hes about ready to take $25-30K. It has good running 502's , A/C and generator.

Great advice, appreciate it ! Was able to pull up pics on my computer when I got home and blow them up. Needs a lot of cosmetic attention, and the motors would have to go for sure.

Thanks for the links...

Not to hi-jack, but do you have any info on the 38 you could pass along?

"Survived a hurricane"
That might be a hint.
