What is a new 37 AT running these days?

Sunny32SSR 02-08-2014 09:17 AM

Still haven't touched on the running capability of the three

If your looking at a new 36 Sunsation with 565's Capt's Choice in Fr. Walton, FL has one they have on "Special" this month and they will make your first years worth of payments, its not an MCOB but nice looking boat.

A 525 TS TG isn't going to get you into the 90's....but would still be my pick.

I also have a 2 year old, and the only time I'm doing 90 + anymore is my myself.

Over the last 20 + years I've owned perf boats, many times ( especially @ LOTO) I'm the
Only one in the boat having any fun.

A buddy of mine has a TS and I have some seat time in it.....it's the funnest boat I've driven,
that being said, it doesn't start to be fun til you're over 60 and it needs to be a little bumpy
out to really appreciate it's capabilities, which doesn't lend itself the best conditions for your
old lady to hang on to the kid and still be able to hold on, herself.

So, if you're going to do it, buy the Cig....because if it doesn't work out, you're not going to
take that bad of a beating when you go to get rid of it.

With toddlers on board I would stick with the Active Thunder! The deep freeboard will give you an extra measure of safety and security. The cabin on the AT 37 is huge and with a custom build you can get anything you want for creature comforts. The stability and turning ability of the single step DDC bottom may also be something to really consider..

All three of these boats have great running capabilities...Though I'm not really sure about those packages getting into the 90's speed wise like you say. It comes down to personal preference. Most people that you ask are naturally going to plug their brand. If I was going to lay out that kind of cash for a new or used boat, I wouldn't do it without checking out and actually running the boat(s) you are interested in personally. You are an experienced boater, so you'll know what YOU like when you find it!

Thanks for the feedback so far.

Let me be clear, I'm not a novice and I wouldn't make top speed runs with my family. I want to be crystal clear about that.

Furthermore, anytime I'm running I have my lifeline and lanyard on as do all passengers.

I'm looking for subjective feedback between the handling and available room between the three boats.

I was trying to not derail the thread, spoke about the two new build choices.......

Hahaha! I saw this comin even before I opened this thread!!!! Haha...you know as well as anyone here, Cigarette has the best resale value hands down. The Cigarette will perform as well if not better than the other two in the rough stuff. I personally like the lines of the Top Gun over the 37 AT, but I like the AT amenities down below over the Top Gun cabin. Puttin a Sunsation in this trio, is like bringing a knife to a gun fight.... Shouldn't even be in the mix. Cigarette #1..... Active Thunder makes a real nice boat.

302Sport 02-08-2014 03:53 PM

From a performance and build perspective the Active Thunder is the same as a Top Gun, but with the AT you get a bigger cockpit and fully equipped cabin. The only reason to pick a TG over an AT is that you need hundreds of Cig emblems all over your boat so you can brag to all of your buddies that you own a Cigarette. These are usually the same people that will tell you that a Rolex is the best watch made....

The Sunsation ( only being that is an open bow) will play the part best when you have to bolt on a jungle jim ( wake board tower) for the kids to
do water sports with.

I'm just giving you sh!t on that one... at the baby shower, my buddy with the TG sent a" for sale" sign( for the exsisiting boat), brochures from Bass Pro shops for pontoons, a set of kids water ski's...life jackets and such....it was classic:D, ...made the shower...some of the most useful ( down the road) stuff we got.
