Did you do the Talladega Nights checker flag "motif" after you bought the boat or was it part of the Reggie performance package?

Shouldn't you be on a cruiser forum somewhere.....talking about what macerators are best for tampons of heavy flow'ers? Seriously dude......you are on a record setting kilo run thread.....bashing, and you own a 30 ft islander with an ice maker, microwave and VCR. |

On a more serious note, why would someone that drives a school bus come here trolling with negative comments about a superior boat looking for a fight? Things went from bad to worse when his defense was he could make a tray of ice out of lake water in about 3 hrs at his "wet bar" (sink). Call me old fashioned, but I buy mine in a bag. $2 for 10 lbs Baja "Speed Changes You, and Eventually You Buy Something Fast" You realize that 3 out of 4 of these were written in your (Fountain) favor right? 1. Just like "inflation" and the 171 speed record - shouldnt this be more like 180 MPH to win due to advancements in materials and technology? 172 MPH might beat the record, but did it really break the RECORD. 2. The Fountain 42 is really a purpose built 39, so if OL can do it in a 43 that is based on a production boat, where are we? 3. I'm just guessing but the 171MPH 1550 Sterlings might have been more than 1550. 4. Reggie should be able to do a pre-record run inspection LOL Lets get back on track. |

What power was the original Fountain kilo boat?
What was the real length? (was it based on the 42 or 47 - so was it really a 39 or 44?)

Troll? Ive been here just as long as you. Been here since before you had the "GREEN MOTOR" thread blowout with Shooter. Hardly a troll. Two days ago I was searching craigslist to find your buddy a 35 Fountain with staggard 525's in Miami. Sorry if your feelings were hurt... didnt realize you were so delicate. Its all in good fun. Do you even know what you are saying when you make a LOA joke about a Fountain? I mean, from a guy on a Cig with no swim platform I kinda expect it, and I may even see where they are coming from. But from a guy with a MOLDED SWIM PLATFORM factored into overall length BAJA performance crosover owner......I just had to step in :D No hard feelings. And thanks for looking in your area for my friend. Also....Just an FYI. The record boat was a non swim platform boat (40 ft lightning) that may have even been purpose shortened a little from there. So yes, it is small........but that ***** sure is fast huh? |

I think its great. These records are a great way to progress and push the envelope further. There will be a great deal to learn in this pursuit and I admire the team that steps up to meet the challenge. I also like that Mike has put together a team, why should he do it himself? if an OL wins the record then its a OL record. Who cares who set it up or who is in the seat?
I am a huge OL fan but I honestly think it will be a tough thing to accomplish with Merc 1650's. I think the motors in the Fountain when the record was set was set on kill and could have been making way more then 1650. look at the OL SV43 race boat results from the shootout. that boat ran 152 with 1350's. Maybe in better conditions it could have ran faster? will 600hp more get another 20-25mph? that seems like a tall order. its not a linear curve at those speeds, especially in a V bottom. if they do break the record with 1650 Merc's then that will be a huge accomplishment. I don't get why anyone would be native and smack talk the OL team that is stepping up. I am personally tired of hearing about the Fountain record and I am sure the OL team is also. Its cool they are stepping up, they should get the respect for at least trying. Nobody else has. who cares who, where, why, etc... If they break the record then they break the record. MP |
