Run alcohol instead of race fuel to keep the egts down. Race fuel even 116 those egts are probably 1600deg and climbing and with the lack of water kills the motors.. Run alcohol egts would be alot closer to 1100-1200 deg and will give you alot more HP and buy you more run time without breaking. just a suggestion.. Nauti Marine i think ran alcohol motors back in 2010 at LOTTO at 208mph in a cat

The positive would be that you could spend hours and hours dialing it in and not worry about blowing up a 1900hp piston engine every half hour. Basically take My Way's drive train and put it in a vee bottom.

That would be such a hairy ride. You would first have to find two guys with the ideal mixture of balls and stupidity to run the boat full throttle.

I would think that having too much power in a situation like this would be a good thing. You wouldn't have to be all strung out and trying to get that last MPH. Why would anyone ever want to restrict the HP when trying to break a speed record? I would think more HP would allow for more wetted surface because you wouldn't have to trim it to the moon to run the same speed with less HP.

302Sport I know nothing about turbines but if you back off the trottles do they respond as quickly as a piston motor? Maybe the piston motors are safer if you get into a scary situation?

SS930 02-13-2014 06:41 PM

Bingo, extrememly low throttle response... Which is one reason they eat drives, that and the monster torque.

Nobody ever said it was going to be a Sunday driver

I got it!

A turbine to blow air through radiators to cool the 1800HP piston engines.

*Patent pending. :drink:

Very smart move on their part. I didn't think of it at the time.

I get that the lack of water could be an issue at these speeds. But, why didn't they have any issues on their earlier 160mph+ runs? :party-smiley-004:

Put two 8000s in it. Fastest vee right. Not Vee light, super vee, super vee ex, super vee unlimited. Didn't think there was a rule on power. Run the thing fast.
