Is this the one you are talking about?
Yes, that is Ross' boat. You'll be hard pressed to find a better boat for the money and what you want to do. That boat will need nothing for a while if taken care of by it's next owner.

I promise you will not find a nicer boat then Ross Checkmate. The boat is solid. Unique in Color. FRESH 500hp Engine! That alone is worth the price. Hydraulic steering. Rebuilt trailer. The boat is a turn key head turner. It has one of the most badazz sounding exhaust around. CMI headers with semi dry tails. You WILL be impressed.

He doesn't want to sell it trust me, but when his 3 best friends that he boats with daily have 100mph 33-43ft boats we sorta forced him into it! Even though he NEVER had a problem cruising somewhere with us in the past. Its just part of this addicting habit we call powerboating.

How about a 26' Wellcraft Nova. Those come with twins and a heavy boat which is good for Lake Erie. Has a decent cockpit and cabin as well.

I have never seen Ross's boat in person, but it does look like a nice boat at a good price

That old Checkmate has a bit of Liberator in it doesn't it? Not quite as beastly, and most likely lighter. But a quick glance it had the lines.

IMO , at your price point your going to he hard pressed to find a boat hat fit what you want. At 15k you approaching the price where most guys will part out. Anything that's well taken care of at that age will be owned by someone that knows what the parts are worth and has the capability of tearing it apart and selling it in peices. If you do not mind me asking .... What is your yearly mant., gas, and broken parts budget?

That checkmate looks like a ton of great boat for the $$$.

The op also stated he would like to sleep on it. How much cabin does the 251 checkmate have?

Well I got 5g in the bank 5g coming in tax return so I'm right at the 10g mark and I am probably sell some motorcycle parts to get up to that 15g price range. I don't really have a budget set out for gas, maint, broken parts. After I pay all my billls in a month I usually have about 1g a month spending money.

I can't meet your asking price right now but if it's still for sale in the spring I will defiantly take a look into it.
Thanks,
Nate
