Here's one for you. I bought it for the Michigan, so it will work on your lake too. 1994 Infinity 265. (26') Merc 454 Mg, Bravo. Turn key, nothing to fix. With trailer, $8500. Great on the rough, Best speed. 69.3. Some vinyl cracking on the rear, seats are good interior/cabin great.

I'm loving this thread, I'm currently looking for a smilar boat......a "Cottage Boat" to run on Lake Charlevoix. It will probably only be used about 10 times/yr. Looks like I may be competing on similar boats for sale this spring though.

My search list is:

Formula 242 or 271 - my ideal
Checkmate 251 Convincor - anybody have any good cuddy pics?
Baja 240 Sport - poor cuddy layout, but does fit the bill of what I'm looking at.
Liberator 241 (454 bravo pkg) or 261 (twin 350's) - great all around boat but tough to find clean ones with the engine/drives I want.

I think your short list should look like this
Formula 242 or 272
Liberator 241 or 261(huge boat)
Nova II
Baja 240 Sport (outlaw hull) don't get an alpha boat unless cheap
A Formula 311 is tough on that budget

its only money and only a payment lol. everyone knows that when you buy a 10-15k boat that just needs a little work you will have way more than his asking price in the long run. if he is looking at 24ft boats he wont be boating very much on lake erie. granted im on the east end of the lake but it kicks up quick out on the west end with a little wind. the first time out in 3's with a 24 footer the wife will be pissed!!

Been there done that. I had a crownline 266. Was a great family boat for when in the river. Out in the lake with 4's well never went back to the lake. Anything over 50 and the boat started to float in the back didn't feel locked in. We wanted the economy purchase for first boat. Thats what it started out to be. I had to rebuild the motor and redid the cuddy. That cost me about 10K. Wasn't so economical anymore.

Budget and Boating never pans out. I will bet 80% of the board agrees and the other 20% doesn't own about...lol
