For anyone thinking about relocating to the Gulf Coast of Florida, here's an informative video about Cape Coral...

Great read! I just got back from Ft. Lauderdale last night. We are thinking on renting a condo on the ocean, can get a 2BR for around 2k. Ive been talking to a realtor and when I asked about Pompano, she said its no good. My problem is, its the only place in Florida we have been. We love the beaches, shopping, restaurants, and all the high end toys everywhere but have not been on the water there. Is it just idling through the waterways and blasting through the ocean? There might be other areas of Florida we like better but how do you know? Cant really visit all these different places, I guess maybe we can lol. Thanks for any input

Your realtor is an idiot........Pompano (oceanfront or east of the ICW) is fine!

Weekdays the ICW used to allow 25 mph from 7am to 7pm but I haven't boated that far down recently.

Contact Cashbar on here, he is a Broward County realtor and can set you straight!

We drove through Pompano, on the beach everything looked nice but out on the highway there was a lot of rundown closed businesses. Stopped at fast boats.com and loved the marina behind them. They said 500/ month for in/out rack service for a 33 Baja. I thought that was a great deal. Pompano looks like a better deal and you can get to Ft. Lauderdale in a few minutes. It cant be that bad if theres a big Ferrari dealership there. We stopped and I couldn't beleive all those exotic cars in there, a lot of them were even sold.

Pompano west aka "Pompton" is rough but then again Broward Blvd West in Ft Lauderdale is no picnic either! East is fine in either area, like I said get ahold of Cashbar.
