I was looking at Charleston.. when comparing the size of the inner waterways of long island it looks kind of small. You guys know how much ground you cover in these boats. Id hate to feel like I have to run laps back and forth inside if the atlantic is too rough. Thats why I was thinking outer banks nc at first. After talking with you guys and looking at the maps.. the cape coral area has plenty of inside water to run.. and the gulf will probably be calm more days than the atlantic.

Here's a few pics of one of the FMO runs last year to Cayo Costa which is North up the ICW inside the barrier islands, does this help.

How about the Charleston sc area??? My biggest issue is the Mrs. With her Multiple Sclerosis sometimes the heat can't make her goofy and the cold makes her feel like she has althritis? Can't win for loosing. But she prefers warmer weather the most. So we were thinking SC and I can boat. Few more months longer then in MD.

I just yelled to the wife about this post!^^^^^^ and she said well see we need to go there! Plus the orioles train there and we can still see them! It's a win win! Yes yes I know the O's stink sometimes or well all the time but it's our home team!

I'm am original MD guy and like the O's too!! The heat and goofy is better than cold and pain!!

The gulf is great most if the summer and can be a real witch in the winter. I'm also a supply boat captain and spend a lot of time in the gulf. It all depends on the fronts coming down. However when the gulf is snotty we do have the icw which keeps you in barrier islands, not so fortunate on my supply boat. Lol

I just got back from looking at houses in Cape Coral. It's big where do you recommend looking, I looked at houses with sail boat access only because I want no bridges and a quick out. I was looking in the SW area and up the Caloosahatchee river up to the mid point bridge. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

My parents bought in Punta Gorda Florida several years ago. Most homes are on the water with a short run to Charlotte Harbor. Worth looking into,, Not so Crazy expensive and Great Town... flying down next week...

The SW area South of Cape Coral Pkwy, East of Chiquita and West of Skyline is called "Unit 64", that's direct access without any bridges or locks coming out around the bend from Rumrunners, the main channel coming out is called the Gloriana, we live right around the corner from there.
