Rear bench to three-person bucket? electric?

On some occasions I have more than five people on board. Although this happens only a few times in a season, I have no choice but to go with a flat bench design. But flat benches are ugly and unsafe at speed with nothing to keep the passengers from hopping side-to-side. Here's what I was thinking...

The two center armrests are powered and move at a touch of a button. Anyone done this?

Either straight up.

Or diagonally up.

We have done this on a few boats now.. only difference was no electric motion. The simple solution is interchangeable armrest that can easily be swapped out for desired boating needs.

I've seen pics on here before of that being done. They were manually operated and rotated in and out of the seat base.

isn't it easier to just duck tape your passengers....they dont bounce around or complain..

Nice system, plug and play simplifies the solution by a great deal. I'm surprised not a lot of owners have something like this already installed.

There are two main ways to do it: either use a rotating armrest like the back seat of a car or have it come from the bottom. Depending on cockpit space and engine compartment, the best way to do it is to have it come up from the bottom.

I sketched out some design ideas and the size/shape of the thigh pads will take quite a bit of room and all that bulk needs to go somewhere.

really like this setup. How much would it cost just as it shows in your picture? I'd build the base for it myself.
Thanks

Let them buy their own boat.

The 5 seating looks awesome, and keeps the ride-alongs safe.

I'm doing this on my 308. The wife likes to lounge around on our lake but away on poker runs we need bolsters. I removed the bolster sections and added almuminum angle with riv-nuts to he bottom and back. Flip up the rear seat and remove machine screes and remove bolsters. Then just push low profile inserts with Velcro in when bolsters are out. Should be a quick change and very secure. It's at the upholstery shop now I'll post some photos when completed.

Great minds think alike lol!
