Mid Atlanic Credit Union Roadblock
 

Need some help or knowledge or suggestions. So I am in the middle of purchasing a boat that is in Houston, TX. I have approval from SECU (State Employees Credit Union) based in Maryland. They are now telling me that to purchase a boat it has to be from a dealer or private party in MD, WV, VA, DC, DE, or PA. They say it’s a requirement being a State Credit Union. Anyone ever heard of this? I know they can make up their own rules but wow.

Thinking maybe I can have the Houston dealer work with a dealer or private party in one of the approved states to do a sale and then sale to me. Oh and the boat has to be titled in one of those states prior to my purchase also.

Again any suggestions, ideas, recommendations or know of anyone than can do such a transaction would be most helpful.

Use a broker in one of them states. Basically pay them to do paperwork and title it and have check to them

They get to make some quick cash for paperwork sure someone on here knows a reputable broker there

Maybe they (or you) can work through one of their affiliated Credit Unions, a quick look shows that

Is part of their sharing network, not sure what that means in interstate terms, might be worth a call to see if the deal can be routed through them
