Why is my outdrive .........

When lifting my outdrive to the trailering position, outdrive at the top runs into the two locking nuts on the the shell part of the drive and has damaged the black paint and dented the drive housing. Is there an adjust to limit outdrive from coming up to far?
Thank u

Yes, Merc makes a shim kit that goes inside the trim ram and limits how far it will trim up. It is relatively cheap under $100 when we did ours.

Before you get into the trim rams please check to make sure you have the external trim in limit spacer positioned correctly. It is a white piece spacer that looks like a 4 or 5 inch celery stick but white in color. Its location is in the aft anchor pin holes were the end of the trim rams is supported thru the drive. For Bravo one apps the position should be installed forward in the pin hole and for Bravo III should be installed aft in the pin hole.

If that does not help then you need the trim limit spacer kit as mentioned in the above post. There was change at mercruiser in parts as to the reason for these spacer kits to be installed in the trim rams. Not to go into great lengths up here, that kit # is 15768A 3. And the Mercruiser Service Bulletin for info about the changes and trim component positioning is SB # 98-16. FYI
