I have had the yellow for a couple of seasons no trouble, no color running. If you tie up to a very rough post 5he really will be some snagging.
I would/will buy again. Padraig |
That was fast. Got my 6 new dock lines today. They look to be as good as any others I've seen and half the price. :)

I purchased 12 lines from MadDog in 2011, different lengths each color, blue, yellow. red. In 2014 bought more in yellow and purple. All have provided very good service , no fade and very little stretch if any after the first sew uses. Will buy from him again, excellent service and delivery in about 2-3 days. Gary

After a slightly heated discussion on a Donzi forum I did some further research. Dock lines should be 100% nylon and anchor lines should not float! I don't know why Donzi was providing poly lines with their new boats. Mine did last 10 years before one snapped. I don't know why so many smart people here with expensive boats from the likes of MTI, Skater, etc. are buying and endorsing polypropylene dock lines. I don't know why someone who is so well respected and knows so much about boats is endorsing floating anchor lines. I went along and bought a nice set of poly dock lines. I suppose the yellow lines won't be looking so bright after 5 or so seasons and then I will be switching to nylon.

Why does it matter if it secures your boat/fenders/anchor?
I got mine late last week. Decided to wait till the wife was gone and throw em in the washing machine for good measure. Glad I did, as they turned the water orange. lol http://i67.tinypic.com/2a9896w.jpg Used them for the first time yesterday...seem noticeably stretchier than any other dock lines I've used, but maybe that will cease after a few uses like Scarab500s said. |

Here is how I handle this. These are nice looking lines for a good price. They will work aso the lines I use when I tie up somewhere for a few hours. Then they go in the storage area. They won't go bad that fast or be asked to do anything in harsh environments for any extended periods. Where I keep my one boat docked I have nylon lines that sit in the sun and are used in harsh envirements. The reason most people haven't noticed an issue with these lines is because they are only used every once in a while and not kept in the sunlight all the time. That is why your other ones lasted 10 years. If they were on a dock all summer they would have broke in 2-3 years.
It's a good product and has its purpose. I wouldn't not buy these lines I would just use them as the best way they are ment to be used. |
Hate those type of lines, they slide when tying half hitches, also the core tends to fall out. Terrible..

I have these lines and love them. They are only used when going to the islands for the day or over night and rafting off at the sand bar. They are soft, look great and don't leave marks on my boat or others like my old ones did. During the week my boat sits on a lift so they just get stored on board to use when we go places. If or when they go bad I will be buying them again. I got the silver ones and had no color run or fading.

Funny. I have actually used mine for light bondage. Nothing like in that picture though. That's a little too hardcore for me. I made this with one of my original dock lines to hang in my cabin:
