Exhaust tip question

New to the site I just bought a 05 donzi 22zx over the summer it has the 350 mag mpi with corsa quick and quiet I wanna change the tips been looking at the eddie marine tips but I've heard that at idle they make a clanking noise due to the internal flappers is there a tip out there that doesn't clank and will this make the boat louder

Thanks josh

Not sure if they are louder, but I had tips on my 25ol. The clanking isn't bad and it's only at dead idle and barely noticeable. I would rather hear that than get reversion!

It was funny, when I first heard it, I thought it was my valves tapping until I got close to engine and heard where the noise was coming from!

Debating tips on my twins..

I was hoping by just changing the tips it would make it louder there's a lot of baffling in them corsa tips I just don't wanna spend 2500 on a full system

I think that these tips are nice!! I believe that they are from Borla.

Straight tips will make it louder than the baffled Corsa tips. The tips with internal counterweighted metal flappers will make some noise at idle, but they won't burn out or break off like tips with rubber internal flappers.

So I'm better off with the metal flappers does anybody have a video of there boat idling so I can hear the clanking

It will be hard to hear on video over the exhaust.

It's really about the look! They look good, so any noise at dead idle is moot point. If your not a motor head, most will not even notice it above the exhaust.

Get the tips!!

Something I just thought of as I was selling a lot of excess stuff.

When we went thru hull on our boats Mercruiser told use we needed two methods to protect the engine from water intrusion.
I think this makes a lot of sense. I am not sure if people are even aware of this recommendation or that inline flappers even exist, I wasn't.

We got ours from Corsa. they fit right inside of the exhaust hose and are held in place with a single hose clamp

I've got the 350 mag mpi in my boat as well with straight tips and metal flappers. you cannot hear the noise outside of the boat at all. Here is a video of it idling. If you open the hatch while idling you can hear them slightly. not bad at all. I have another video of it in the water idling if you want that as well.

Hardin Marine has a nice tip that has a rugged flapper with a backer that they claim will not burn out. You can also replace the flapper without pulling the tip if you need too. A buddy of mine has them and they work nice. No clanging
