Rendering of our classic model, should we build it?
Hi, Since a couple of years we are building (very) high performance waterski raceboats. I designed it early 2000 and since I have build 19 boats that are competing or being used as a pleasure boats.
A couple of years ago I had my hand build plug reverse engeneered and since I have been doing all the 3D drawing myself on my FB page there are tons of pictures : www.facebook.com/RaffshorePowerboats I have the idea now to build a high performance wooden version, based on the race proven V hull design. My inboard version with a mercruiser HP500 and bravo drive does 88MPH all day long with skier (1480kg race ready boat with 200L of fuel in it) The idea is to use a fiberglass/polyester (or vinylester or epoxy) bottem and to use marine mahogany (or look alike) plywood for the sides and deck. If there is any interest here I can show the build here. Thanks, Raf https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-y...m+08.54.07.png https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-4...m+14.26.09.png https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-X...m+13.08.13.png https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-7...m+16.49.24.png https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-H...m+16.52.19.png https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-w...m+16.54.04.png |
How big is that 24'??
Edit, Now I see it's 23' :) I was close... Nice Job.. |
Check out my friend's website here > http://kazulinboats.com/ .He's been building fiberglass hull with mahogany deck boats for quite some time. Tough to sell them for reasonable price and make profit on top of it.
This was the rendering of his 43 footer that he gave up on ten years ago. http://www3.telus.net/spectrasonly/T...0dreamboat.jpg |
Not a good time to start a boat company. The boat looks nice but how the heck is this possible?: " inboard version with a mercruiser HP500 and bravo drive does 88MPH all day long with skier".

ask your buddy if he is interested in a bunch of mahogany. i have about 15 pieces of mahogany 12 to 14" wide and 2.5 inches thick and apprx 12 foot long. the wood is located in florida near gainesville fl. i couldn't bring it to colombia with me. my father was a yachtsman and incredibly skilled carpenter, he bought the wood about 30 years ago. he restored several old chriscrafts using this mahogany. let me know, thx, phil
