speakers... so many options

I am going to be installing a new stereo soon, and I thought I was sure of what I wanted. Then I discover the 8" speakers that are just coming out.
I am looking at JL audio, WetSounds and Rockford Fosgate
Lets see those pics and hear the stories and opinions!
Thanks!

8" have been out for a while,,,,,, I ran them as mid bass in my setup so I didn't have to run my subs to high,,,, or 6 1/2's to low.

I would also used the JL 7.7's next time instead of the 6 1/2's

My last boat was all Memphis Audio, ( 4 ) 6.5's ,,,,( 2 ) 8" and ( 2 ) 10" subs and only 800 watts run off ( 2 ) blue top Optimas

It's an option at the bottom of when you created the thread.

pstorti 03-13-2014 01:21 PM

not sure I want to see the admin on a pole what does she look like??

I have JL 8.8's in my boat and they are a big step up from the 7.7's I had previously in volume and bass, sound quality is the same.

Wet sounds makes some great stuff also, if you are boating in salt stick with JL or wetsounds if the speakers are going to get salt water on them, if you are in fresh water or the boat never gets wet inside then you have more options.

Knot 4 Me 03-13-2014 01:25 PM

Focals sure sound good.

Oh.....and Made In America (if that means anything to you)

I have 4 Kicker 6.5" and 1-10" sub hooked up through a 300 watt amp and it rocks nicely.

JL Audio M880's rock. They blow away the 7.7's.
Need a lot of depth though.

How did you like your memphis system? I just installed (2) 6.5's, (2) 6X9's, (2) 8's, and (2) 10's in my boat. All the speakers are in, but amps aren't going in till sunday so I haven't heard it yet, I got 600w amp for the subs, and a 480w amp to run the speaker. Everything is memphis marine stuff. I may add another pair of 6.5's but not sure yet.

It's ok, it happens to the best of them....

obnoxus 03-13-2014 04:01 PM

I liked it alot,,,,,,,, has to be M Class though

blingbling 03-13-2014 04:58 PM

My new Nortech CC I had installed 2 pair of 8.8 jls, 4 pair of 7.7 JLs, 2 pair of 10 subs JL, separate bass control knob, and three of there top of the line amps. (sorry i can't remember the model #) My best buds wife got out of the boat after a day of boating a while back and said she felt like she had been in a night club. JL, Focal, Wet sounds is all good, but make sure you have an installer that not only knows how to install, but also knows how to tune the system. That is key.

If you get the chance to listen to some Polk db6501 component's backed by @ 100 watts rms and strong sub system you will be very impressed as to there sonic output. Very inexpensive

Where did you mount your sub? In the center, under the rear seat?

fastdonzi 03-14-2014 10:55 AM

I had Polks in my Crew Cab Dually doors. They can friggin Rock. and sound better than any Sony, Pioneer, Jensen ever could ( I have all 3 in one vehicle or another). I wish I kept the Polks when I sold the truck..

Mine is located in the back of the center console. Faces the rear seats.

This is not mine but has the same sub location.

I put in JL audio speakers/subs/amps in my boat 5 years ago. They still sound like the day I put them in and I run them pretty hard. Great sound and they hold up. I will put them in my next boat too.

mptrimshop 03-20-2014 12:33 AM

Well I found out for sure today.... If anyone wants wet sounds stuff if ya PM I got a guy that will give ya %10 off min.

That looks good

HiPerf360 03-20-2014 11:01 AM

I have two pairs of the Polk 6501 and i am very pleased with the sound quality given the application and cost. I will probably be adding two more pairs and another pair of 12" subs if I don't sell the boat this year.

sheperd 03-20-2014 09:59 PM

What about a set of Sparkomatics from Kmart? :party-smiley-048:
