Misconceptions....

A Facebook member posted the following on "The Cigarette" fan page.

Doug Daykin: Sorry these boats are big polluters of our oceans next to a jet ski they are my least favorite

Our appropriate response: Sorry Doug Daykin - sailboats are 19 times more likely to have illegal toilets that pump raw sewage into our oceans and waterways. Some anchorages are "un-swimable" because of all the typhoid and hepatitis that's directly related to sailboat sewage problems.

Big polluters? It's people like that I have a problem with. What they forget is the amount of run hours any of our boats have compared to say a container ship.

Another one, ask him if he ever took a cruise! Dumb a$$

Best response to haters is no response, let them live their little lives.

Mr. Doug probably flies a Rainbow Flag and thinks collecting Barbie's is a sport. He cuts his grass with Scissors cause a gas powered lawn mower pollutes too much.

ICDEDPPL 03-14-2014 10:01 PM

Maybe he should ask himself how much pollution is created by the container ship arriving from Japan to deliver his planet saving Prius.

I'd like to put my "carbon footprint" square in his azz, but Watsonville isn't far from San Francisco, so he might welcome it.

Hey - if we were exercising our best judgement we wouldn't be on Facebook in the first place.... At any rate. I just couldn't resist.

Most of the larger sailboats I see on the Great Lakes are traveling under power even in favorable wind conditions. I never understood that.

Lazy. It's work to pull on those ropes.

Once had a debate with a friend about the fuel burn and pollution factor of big power in go-fast boats. I politely pointed out the total number (in millions) of how many vessels are registered in this country.
Guessing the percentage of performance boats is well under 1%.

And think of how many of those other 99% are OLD diesels. :eekdrop:
