pleasure / race lay up chris cat 30
Think I've read some of those cat were made with only fiberglass, some with kevlar?
this one poped up for sale and is 35 minutes from my house. looking at the pictures, this one seems to have steps, some don't I think... emailed the seller and he said it ran 700's on SSM 3 at 115 mph... what are your thoughts on that ''race'' set up ? does the race set up came with steps and kevlar? http://www.offshoreonly.com/classifi...o56350-en.html |
french link with a stbd side picture showing the steps

The Chris Cat I had and all the ones I ever saw ALL had steps.
|
pretty sure all of them where kevlar as well. they are good boats and fast for the day.

I loved my Chris Cat in 1986

tried to blow your avatar picture but just can't...
That was your boat on the cover? |
I believe they were all laid up similar. They were all vac bagged and all had steps. Supposedly the 1984's were the heaviest and as they got to 1985 and 1986 they were lighter. If the setup is correct the speeds and horsepowers listed are correct.

what is the lineage of that hull? I always assumed it was originally and first the Conquest hull? After CC it was splashed by nearly everyone though. Its in my list of boats I will own someday, one of the greats ones right there.

nedd your opinion for those who rode in a cat...
3 years ago I broke my back in 2 places. I,m now pretty much fragile on bumps, shocks and bouncing... since apparently a cat handles so well, is it well enough to be comparable or better in let's say 3 or 4 foot waves, sitting in a seat, or it is less pain in a stand up bolster seat in a V type hull, with our knees absorbing the shocks? |

Could it be from a Shadow Cat, I thought that the Conquest hulls came after the Chris and Shadow Cats? I could be wrong. Thank you jim |
The shadow cat came out in 80 or 81. It was a Linder/Luhrs design. Ran great with outboards or small blocks. Chris Craft then had those guys build The Chris Cat which handled big blocks much better than the Shadow. This was in 84. The conquests started coming out in 87 I believe. My dad raced a shadow and we has a Chris cat as a pleasure boat.
