We always use a wood vice, or wood inserts. Cheap, easy to make and who cares ifbthe rod dents the wood :) Good luck with it all.

good point, i'll call it a wash... its only a 4 banger for my daily driver, i just sanded em out with a da and some 320....

originally i was gonna have them put the bottom end together, but when i offered to lend him my rod bolt stretch gauge, and he didn't know what it was i decided to do it myself...

Better than a stripper putting teeth marks on your rod!!
