The number one family rec boat 22 ft - 25 ft sold here in America is the 23 / 24 footer Yamaha jet drive boat. At one time this Yamaha Jet drive boat sold more boats than any other boat brand in America of any size. All made by Yamaha.

Also I think Yamaha outboards are now the number one selling outboard in America. Keep in mind its the Americans buying this stuff. How many Asians do you see on the waterways here in America. How many Asians do see driving American made cars or American made motorcycles. But you sure see the Americans buy a lot of Asian products. Especially white Americans.

Also an Asian company owns Ebbtide boats in TN USA. Also one of the largest bass boat companies in the USA is located in Texas all owned by Yamaha (Japan company) which is Skeeter boats. Century Boats was also owned by Yamaha.

More outboard model brands in the USA are owned by other countries. BRP - Canada, Honda, Suzuki, Nissan, and so on all Asian companies

the number 1 jetski sold here is Yamaha or Sea Doo. Nothing American made or owned for those. Again all Americans buying it.

all this information is 100%correct.imo it would be a mistake to think the korean,s cant make a offshore boat that could sell globally.

The cars were just a secondary venture, and I really don't think a lot of car companies discount them at this point.

One of the execs at our company has one of those 80k dollar Hyundai Equus sedans and it is NICE! I don't think them of Kia can be discounted - both have some good looking rides right now. I'm not trading my f350 for them but nevertheless.....

Looks like these things have huge power and direct drives!

That's Hilarious. Surfboards with high output motors. Who needs restraints at those speeds.

they can build pretty much anything over there for less money then here , also they build in quantity and make a smaller profit on each product they sale but they sell a Lot and in that case they make lot's of money , where as over here the would rather build low production and make a Lot of money on each unit , at least in the boat market , see if a american company could build a twin engine 21 to 24 foot boat on a nice trailer with a nice fit and finish for under $ 50 k , for a sport boat it will be Double that here ,"" estimate here"" , Yamaha sell's 10,000 boats a year and make's $ 5000. on every boat ,thats about 50 million a year in profit where as over here they would build a 1000 boats a year and make 50 k on each boat at the same 50 million profit . in America this make scene build less and make more or the same , But in the long run Yamha will have 10 x as many boats on the water and also down the road they will have 10 x the amount of boats needing part's and now they are making money in the back end of the deal 5 to 10 years after they sold the boat .

A lot of company's run like this , just think of subway with there $ 5 foot long they dont make any money on selling 50 sub's a day but they make a ton of money because they sell 500 sub's a day , and a day or 2 later they come back for more .

by the way I have owned 2 Yamaha boats over 20 years ago " first boats " and they do build nice boats
just my thought

And we wonder why our economy is in the toilet! Americans think it is OK to buy this crap and put their neighbor out of a job to save a couple bucks! Not in this household. I spend a lot of time looking for products that are made in the USA! It is not as hard as you would think with a little bit of effort.

Judging by their recently crashed drones, North Korea cant find their asses with both hands much less build something that will float. But South Korea; those people have their poop together and could easily build something that would sell globally. Why not? The only thing is power. How many Kia engines would it take to make the thing run well? 15-20?
