Heard about this event from a good friend & Lake George local. Plan to get NASCAT defrosted and drag her down from Alexandria Bay to participate w/ the hopes she'll find a new home! Perfect boat for that area!

I may do it this year after a 1 or 2 year hiatus.

Glad-

Any feedback about previous years events??
Pros / Cons things that might help a first timer prepare or know what to expect??

What do you need to know? Been a participant in all of them, my father and Rick Gage put the event on.
You will need helmets and life-lines, safety is priority one.
It looks like a race, it feels like a race...but it isnt a race. That last part is key :)
There should be a solid skater presence this year!

Ah yes you & I have met before at your shop. I'm a close friend of Shane's.

I was just curious about the race course type format vs. a typical poker run. I'm not sure how many boats participate or the length of the course but conceptually it sounded as if there could be more overtaking of slower boats in a closed course type event vs an open event.

We try keep boats with similar speeds in the same classes. There's 3 different classes - 65-75-85. I usually run all three depending on how many boats show up. The course is a circle track, long enough to spool up, but short enough where we arent stringing our boats out all day. Essentially, we want it to look and feel like an offshore race. There will be one "Pace" boat in a class (usually me). That boat will have an average speed of 85 if its the top class. If you're in the top class, we have no issues with you giving your boat a poke for a few laps and running out front. We've had boats radar'd at 120+ in the top class. BUT. Here's the thing. As soon as the Pace boat is left in the dust for more than a lap or two, the boat running too hard will be red flagged. Everybody will get a chance to lead. It isnt a real race. There are no trophies. To the fans, it looks like a very tight race, lots of lead chances. To the guys in the boats, its as close as you'll ever get to offshore racing, without the rules and headaches. Just run your boat and have fun!

The 85 class has had everything from 36 Nor-Techs, 42 Fountains, 28 Profiles...your boat would fit right in!
You are also more then welcome to run one of the other classes.
Hope to see you there!
