Be Careful On Great Lakes, 2 Fatal Crashes. Debris?
Two fatal boat crashes so far with no explanation for either. There is always a lot of debris flushing out of the upper lakes in the spring and probably a whole lot this year. My advice if you must venture out is to go slow until things stabilize and the water warms up. Some of the fatalities had life vests on but no one can survive 40* for very long. Glass Dave lost some friends in the Lake Erie accident. A fisherman died in a boat crash on Lake St. Clair. I've seen whole trees floating down the St. Clair River just under the surface in the past.

As of this morning they have called off the search for my friends son. These were two friends that i did not know were together. My mom called me yesterday morning and asked if i knew anything about the missing boat and told me it was our family friend Debbie and Butch's son, i had not heard about it and they had been missing since Wednesday night. My girlfriend called an hour or so later and asked if i had heard about the missing boat and that our friend Alberts daughter was missing, kind of disoriented me for a second as it sank in and i made the connection, did not know they were together. Known them pretty much my whole life and as kids we use to babysit them. They also lost a sixteen year old cousin yesterday. All i know now is they phoned in that they were on there way in from the lake around six thirty and around one a.m. it was apparent there was something wrong. Search started Thursday morning and they found the over turned boat and the two girls. Girls were wearing pfd's but the water here is in the fortys, the boat also sustained engine / transom damage. They were only a few miles off shore and in normal weather it is probably a swimable distance but in this cold water the chances become slim.
be careful out there, the water here in Erie still has ice in the east and is dangerously cold and we are the warmest of the great lakes. The fisherman here have hit it pretty hard because the season is just getting started but because of the long full freeze special caution needs to be in place.
