The site has been up and down ever since. I do think it has been great for the last few years with new people coming onboard. I can tell you that I will never leave without a push.

I am here every day. I forget what year I joined, but whats listed in my profile is wrong, as is my post count. It got all screwed up in one of the board updates years back.

I'm still here, I read more than I post though...... Joined sometime in 2001 and realized I spelled it wrong -Sha Mat.

Rejoined in 2002 with Shah Mat which, btw, is a Persian term that means the king is defeated or the king is helpless...... Checkmate.

It is still a great site, I am not the biggest poster but love reading all the different forums.

I've been around and learned a lot. I love the Tech section the best. Like hearing how to solve problems. I try to fix things myself. Lots of smart guys on here.

Almost 10 years for me. Didn't start posting much until several years ago.

1,871 posts in just under 14 years, I keep my mouth shut, some of the time, but I am on here just about everyday, and multiple time throughout the course of those days.

Been very quiet on here lately....

Hard to believe I have been on here almost 10 years. I think the heyday was just before the recession. People thought the party would never end, and just kept buying bigger and bigger boats and engines. We've seen everything on OSO from people being arrested, to people being on here who stole boats, to engine builders selling new engines with used parts, to money sent to boat builders for boats that were never built. It was crazy.

I don't see as much on here about offshore racing anymore. There use to be a lot of racers on here debating rule changes. It's good to see the recent influx of DIY people. I'm looking forward to seeing what the next 10 years brings.

I guess I've been around here awhile too. Usually too busy to post much, but stop by a few times a week to keep up on tech info/ drama etc. The whole scene has definitely slowed down since the economy tanked.

Some time back in 1999 it started out as a board for SCOPE than word got out and it grew from that.

The Engine in the boat was built by QMP (Quarter Mile Performance) in Chatsworth, originally we set it up for Alcohol and it made 1,319 HP, but Alcohol is a major pain the A$$. Way too much work when I am the one man pit crew. So we changed pistons to lower the compression from 11:1 down to 8:1 and I now run it on AV-Gas and it makes 968 HP. Still plenty, it runs about 132 mph, that is plenty fast for a 17' flat bottom.
