You gotta admit, some of the posts since OL went fast are sour grapes. I don't get it. It's a heck of an accomplishment just as Reggie's was, big fuss was made out of Reggie's record but there's pretty much crickets and sour grapes over this one. Reggie's run was balls out thrilling, this one too, they should both be celebrated IMO.
In the end though, I guess I'm not crazy about top speed records for offshore boats, seems better suited for river and lake runners. I'm more interested in how a boat performs in tough conditions; how it holds together, how it handles chop, its stability and ability to hold speed in conditions that keep many boats in the harbor. Maybe my view is a bit different since I don't boat in a lake or river, but I don't think either Fountain, OL, or any other brand is going to be running those crazy speeds in tough conditions. |

" tough conditions " ya gotta be kidding me , it doesn't get any tougher than racing ! Again Reggie's record speaks for itself ...... Fast in a straight line in close to ideal conditions doesn't mean much without the wins to back it up. Before you start you start bad mouthing a ledgend or making your self look an idiot trying to get your facts straight .

Saratoga Stampede was running 140 in Key West a few years back.

This is really amazing. OL quietly brings a boat to NC to break a record and does so. No real fanfare, no marketing hype afterwords, no 12 pages of ads in magazines proclaiming the ultimate accomplishment of mankind, and all people here do is yak about Reggie.
Gotta tell ya fellas, I'll never own either boat for various reasons but this whole episode has really turned me off to the Fountain brand. I've never seen a more a more puny minded bunch of groupies over a product ever. "Reggie speaks out". Not anything about Outerlimits You need to jump in on a correct thread. And for the record No never owned or thought about a Fountain but I have had one pass me in a SBI race at about 145.mph. I would guarantee a Outerlimits would high step away from the boat your running Sorry life is hard |

I don't see any badmouthing in his post. He's right, no one will run 150+ on the open ocean. At least I don't think they will. . . . . .

INDY , my apology's ..... I read the post wrong & after reading it agin I took it wrong the first time . Just chill out on the mrs fountain crap ..... For the record , haven't seen Powrerplay come close to anything in number of wins Reggie has laid down & BTW I frequent the sound often & will be keeping an eye out for ya hopefully it will be a rough day when our wakes cross . After awhile the smack talk on the 42 becomes irritating especially coming from behind a keyboard & the 42's sure as hell ain't no lake boats . No matter what any of us type away at Reggie's records are written in the history books & I will shut my mouth when fiore or any other manufacturer decides to shatter his racing records .
