John Haggin brought so much to Offshore Powerboat Racing and even though he has left the sport his contribution to the sport was great. The video of the Miss Geico and AMF Racing Convoy going by the overpass was something very special. Thank you Mr. Haggin for everything you did for the sport, this fan appreciates it and won't ever forget those days when you were aways at the races walking around.

Could somebody put a rough number as to how much would it cost to run that whole entire setup for a year of racing? I love seeing that video!!

Haggin was a good help to the sport at a time when he was greatly needed. Thank you sir!

Back in the 60's and 70's Bill Wishnick, World Champion back in the days when you had to travel the world for that title. He was probably the sport's first official billionaire and often made races happen by adding quietly whatever was needed for $$. After he retired from the sport he continued to enjoy the spreading of his $$ for others enjoyment. On a regular basis he had a favorite ice cream shop in Pt Pleasant that he would walk in and just pick up the tab for everyone in there. He did the same thing with restaurants in California a few times too.

The sport has been very lucky to have guys like this in our sport.

What, nobody is going to mention Al Copeland?

There is no question that Al Copeland Sr. made a huge contribution to the sport and will always be one of the Legends of the sport but this post was about the Haggin days.

That was one of those video's that are a one of a kind and I don't think Offshore Powerboat Racing will ever see something like that again from one Offshore Powerboat Racing Team. Thank you John Haggin, Geico Insurance and the person who took that video.

Mr. Haggin!

You are still missed and thought of by anybody that had anything to do with Offshore Powerboat Racing from Racers, volunteers to the spectators who were always in AWE of the Miss Geico Race Team like myself and still are today. You and Al Copeland Sr. will always be talked about as Legends of the sport and thought of for many, many years. Thank you for the great memories.

See you in Clearwater Haggin!!!

Not many around like John. So giving to anyone and everyone. Truly a legend still today. Would do anything within his power to help anyone in need, without expecting anything in return. If you broke a part and he had it, it was yours, if you were hungry or thirsty, he'd have food and something to drink for you, music, party, fun for everyone....even if he couldn't be around. If he was around you, you'd have a big smile, hug or pat on the back. Enough said, glad to know you John, and thank you for all you did. You will always be a legend in our sport.

Generous, down to earth and a class act, besides whenever Haggin was around I didn't feel self conscious wearing my work boots in the pits, since we have similar taste in foot attire. :D
