Has anyone been in a 30' Motion with twin OB's? Need help.
I'm thinking about buying one of the 30' Motions currently listed for sale on the web. Twin pro max's.
For reference, my previous cat experience was a 30' Skater. I'm being told that the Motion has a pretty bad porpoise/hop. Also that it lasts longer then other cats, meaning, it doesn't lay down until 80mph. I understand that in chop, there's no porpoise, so I'm asking about smooth to glassy water. I boat mostly in inland waterways. If you have driven one or owned one, any help would be much appreciated. |
Yes he porpoise starts around 50mph and lasts till 80. Mine has 280 ROS motors so yours maybe different.
you can email me for phone number if you want to chat |
Had a 2001 30 Motion with twin 225 promax motors. Had a mild hop between 55 and 65 +/-. Found that the boat ran best with props turning in, with the motors slightly toed out. You are correct in that the hop only occurred in smooth water. In any event, it wasn't hard to drive through. Great boat. Really miss mine.

proly the best way to see is to go for a ride in one, I'm sure an OSO brutha would take you out in his. . |
I had a 30 Motion with Promax's. NO hop at all and no tunnel tab!!
I also hade a 30" Spectre with 2 Promax x and it had a terrible hope at 80 to 85 and needed the tunnel tab. |
.
LJ42, that's an interesting observation. Would the different engines (ProMax vs. ProMax X) make the same boat hop or not hop? . |
