We have some new props that were CNC'ed from billets of the strongest metal we could find. The blades are over twice as thick as a normal prop. They started out weighing 2500 lbs then all the metal machined away and now they weigh 54 lbs each. The other prop in the pic is a 17" herring for size comparison.

A lot of cool runs to do, I think the Detroit to Chicago sounds like a blast. Same with Miami to Tampa.

On the New Orleans to St Louis Run to you get the cooperation of the locks or just try and time it just right?

No locks on the river after Alton just north of STL. Wide open, just you, the tug boats and logs. Almost no gas stations either. That record would be tough, it was set in a fast cat.

That prop is really cool. I love that you are doing lots of R&D for the sport.

Really?? I had no clue. Any idea on how much elevation drop there is from STL to New Orleans?

Howard Arneson holds the record. 12. Something from way back. Cut the time in half. At the time he said if they do the run again he would have a helicopter fuel him.

The Mississippi record is on our schedule for one of the first runs we are going to do in the new boat. It will be a good amount of distance to test all of our systems without being hundreds of miles from shore incase something breaks. Arneson ran really fast but then would have to stop for fuel several times. We will not be as fast top end but will have the range to do it without refueling.
