wanting opinions and suggestions

Hello boating friends,
I have a new project I am wanting to start. I have recently acquired the Don Aronow 24 Revolution mold and planning on repairing some issues with it and slightly reshape. My concerning questions for everyone.......

1. Being a new boat builder in the industry, would trying to reuse the 24 Revolution name for the finished product offend anyone, especially since it was Don Aronow?

2. Does anyone know how many were actually made? I believe it ran from 88 or 89 to 91? I bet I'm incorrect, but looking for any info.

3. Does anyone own one that I could come look at and take pictures.

Thank you all for your time and really looking forward to this new endeavor

Thank you Maritime!! I've seen the bow-rider for sale, the last one built most definitely came from the mold I have; I would like to return the transom to flat. Do you know the final production numbers?

thank you!

I would not change the transom. The Aronow cats have a very hard time getting on plane and the transom angle helps this problem because it allows for negative trim. If you made the transom flat you would have to run wedges behind the jackplates during rigging.

I see that you have a hydrostream, I am at the Hydrostream factory in Brechin Ontario every week, John Spaeth the builder is amazing

that's great info!! I meant I want to keep the angle of the transom but remove those little pods on either side of the transom.....or do you like the little pods?

Stimleck, I do have a 89 HST and I would love to come take a tour!!!

I like the pods. Similar to the 32 spectre hull.

Not much of a factory more like a shop lol but true hand built boats. He is doing a couple of restorations right now and also builds the jcraft slalom boats

I like the pods too, but I'm curious about the placement of the engines. I would like to see the difference in rigging between one with on one without

Maritime, how do you like your 24? does it have a porpoise issue above 50 mph, or is that just the twin engine? are all the rumors about how the boat handles just a rumor?

thank you again for you time

paintman 05-18-2014 10:13 PM

Well sorry to hijack..but maritime, your avatar ...outboard diesel? In the few years ive been on here and around boats since a young age ive never heard of an outboard diesel.

Was that a typo
cheers pat

Sorry for the delay, mine would not be a good one to use as benchmark for your project. Mine has a very heavy outboard on it and the handling would not be the same as it would be with 2-strokes. My friends Aronow with twin 300 promax's seems to run very well. He does say it needs to be running over 80mph to pack air and not porpoise.

Yes, I developed and built two prototypes. Search YouTube for "Diesel Outboard" and you can see some video's of the engine running. One of the prototypes is on the back of my 24 Aronow.

Maritime,
apologies for the late response but thank you again for all the information! Im sure I will have more questions as I go.
