Big Boats not selling?

I have a 50 Hustler with all new triple 604CI new Arneson drives , new transmissions, new interior and paintwork cleaned up by Mitcher T and cannot sell for 150K:(
I paid 150k about 3 years ago and put 185K in upgrades. boat shows like new. I'm looking at a center console now and need to move this one any suggestions? I have only listed it with OSO.

I just looked at your listing
WOW That's a helluva a lot of boat for the asking price!!!
I wish I was sitting on the coin as I'd pounce on it in a millesecond.
You'll get a lot more exposure to potential buyers with sites like Powerboat listings, Boat Trader, and Yachtworld. I don't know what the fees are and wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a buyer.
The only thing certain is you'll get more exposure than just OSO
If I was sitting on a unit like that I'd save the money on their fees and and place ads with lots of pictures in the Craigslists of all the big cities less than 1000 miles away and renew them every week.
I sold a 18K aluminum trailer within 3 weeks of listing in Pensacola, Mobile, New Orleans, Beaumont, Houston, Corpus Christi, San Antonio, Austin, Houston, and Dallas using this method after it woudn't move here and I got my asking price in full by not budging. Members here are very savy as to the deflated market values to enthusiasts of the sport as compared to Craigslist buyers. Just sit back and enjoy the great comedy of all the "I'm overseas but have a representative" scammers, I swear I took over 50 in 2 weeks.
Good luck on your boat sale, you enjoy an AWESOME boat for sure!!!

See ya,
Kelly

I looked at your boat/ad a few weeks ago and thought it was a good price/good ad with good pics. Looks like a lot of boat for the money!
I had a friend tell me that his 50 NT was a hassle to trailer/use despite it being a great boat......he called it a "commitment to use" meaning it took time to prep/launch/retrieve/clean and re-store. No 5 minute drop in, 2 minute rinse/flush and walk away. I would think your 50 Hustler is 15 years old and is the same big commitment to use/store/tow. If a guy has a 40ft slip/lift and a 3500 dually your boat is simply too big.......limited market!

MonkeySea2 05-27-2014 01:51 PM

I agree, I think the problem is probably a limited market for a boat of that size. It's a BIG boat and trips adds a lot of cost to ownership. Gorgeous and the price is very reasonable but again, it's a big commitment to own and operate. Plus storage and moving it from location to location.

Agree 100% - boat looks mint. When you find someone that wants a 50 footer it will sell !

offshorexcursion 05-27-2014 02:24 PM

I'm surprised it hasn't sold either its such a beautiful boat!

Powerboat listings is free if you want another ad but of coarse OSO is a great place

tomtbone1993 05-27-2014 02:30 PM

list the boat on ebay...good world wide lead generator

4bus 05-27-2014 02:36 PM

Clean, beautiful boat. Be patient before you completely drop your drawers. The big boats have never been fast movers, limited audience that is shrinking every year. Your boat is also now out of the financing window for most buyers based on year.

On another note I was quoted insurance on a triple engine fountain 47 last year, 3 times what I am paying on my twin with only a modest increase in insured value. All these factors mean that your boat will take a special buyer. However, from the looks of the pics, you will have an advantage over the others on the market when that buyer comes along, clean boats sell!

kennyo 05-27-2014 03:35 PM

Damn, that is a nice boat!

thirdchildhood 05-27-2014 04:06 PM

Financing can be an issue. The banks have been slapped with pretty tight controls.

Bill fountain40 05-27-2014 04:25 PM

I know this might sound crazy, I had one that I couldn't sell and ended up parting it out, it took awhile but when everything was sold I did way better than the asking price for the complete boat.

OMG I'd shed more tears crying in 5 minutes than all the tears I've weeped combined in a lifetime if I was the owner of an incredible boat like this and was forced to part it out piece by piece.

I compelely agree with the first paragraph.
What has me puzzled is why would the 3rd engine and 10' extra length raise the insurance to triple the cost of a nearly comparable market value smaller boat???

Not sure this is the same equation........15 yr old hull is a big heavy piece of fiberglass! :D

Parting out 15 year old gauges/trailer etc isn't going to total 150K......motors/drives will pull decent money, but even at 10K each(3 motors/drives = 6) that is only 60K.

Tom A. 05-27-2014 07:44 PM

Beautiful boat! Be patient it will sell because it is a great deal.

One thought would be to offer it with or without engines. A boat with Arnesons that size screams.... DIESEL GO FAST!
You could easily sell n/a 700hp motors. Don't part it out just make it appeal to a wider audience.

seafordguy 05-27-2014 08:02 PM

I think 4bus is on it - a limited market that is shrinking every year. My generation can't afford to be in the sport and the generation that can is getting older and going to a more reasonable (maintenance free) choice....

dockrocker 05-27-2014 09:59 PM

Thanks Obama!

mpally 05-27-2014 11:39 PM

Have you marketed the boat at LOTO? Give Eddie at Lake Ozark Marine a call to pick his brain. He has been moving a lot of boats.

I agree 100%. That boat would be a great LOTO boat and everyone there keeps their boats on a lift at their home/condo so trailering isn't an issue. For that price, I don't think it would be for sale long there.

hogie roll 05-28-2014 07:27 AM

Did you ever get it tuned up and running right?

Thebossbultsma 05-28-2014 07:28 AM

Like they all said. It's a sweet boat, but my generation won't/don't have that type of money and if we do it cuz we inherited it or worked Realy hard to get if.

I'm 24 and I'm self employed and I've been busting ass to get somewhere in life, and it seems like everytime I turn there's some other bukk**** reason why I need to pay more money in.

I turn 2 keys now and someday I hope to turn 3, good luck with the sale. Sweet boat

You didn't build that business........

Thebossbultsma 05-28-2014 09:29 AM

I didn't start it, my father did and he's always been the one man band type. Then with his help and my brothers help were working on taking it to a hole bother level. But what in saying is that there's so many steps that u have to take or jump threw to make things happen it's just getting Really hard to make money.

Now days with the way mark up percentages are if You make one mistake ur losing money. So u really have to watch ur p's and W's

Nice boat, I have commented on it a couple times. Ron wanted to trade me that boat plus $$$ for my skater. He said the boat had to have been in a time capsule. Nice job dumping the Bravo's !! That was a super nice conversion.Anyone looking for a 50 would be an idiot to pass that up. I am tempted by that boat !!! How much does it weigh in at??

No generator?

wannabe 05-28-2014 04:40 PM

Ken- You need to advertise it elsewherre too. This site does not get enought raffic. Boat trader, Powerboat listings etc.

tbirdusa 05-28-2014 06:51 PM

Contact that baller at loto.... Killer boat. There would be a buyer loto i'm sure.

Tom thanks for you reply.

Boys, if this boat had trip Seatek 600's or Cummins 480 QSB's she'd be the best thing since biscuits and gravy.
I'm curious about this bravo to surface drive conversion.
Would Rik's bravo conversion handle nearly 1000ft/lbs of torque with the internal shifting as compared to having a transmission
I know the horsepower isn't really that high but the torque is up at the ceiling.
See ya,
Kelly

jeff32 05-28-2014 08:14 PM

even smaller 45-42 or 38's are not always selling fast... more sellers than buyers for sure...

Greatguy66 05-28-2014 08:23 PM

I think once the market recovers a little more boats like this will sell more!Nice boat!I also agree the motors &parts have huge value but that whould be my last option!

Donziben 05-28-2014 09:30 PM

I've wondered if that boat came from LOTO before the rerig?.

My cousin owned a '99 that used to stay at marine max. It had triple 540 bulldogs and bravo drives, very low hours. He bought it in '07 and sold it in '09. Not sure where it went, PBC at the lake sold it for him. Boat looks the same on the outside. If its the boat, it looks great!! My cousins was awesome stock, I'm sure it's better now!

Boat looks great!

NevrThrottleBack 05-28-2014 10:56 PM

That's a BAD A$$ boat! The Arnie's rock! Surprised it hasn't sold! The person wanting to buy it could possibly be waiting to sell their boat....?????

kreed 05-29-2014 06:47 AM

Was this boat ever dialed in? I followed the thread about it, and I don't believe there was ever real/final speed #'s posted.....
