Best Place to Buy Trailer Tires

I have a tandem axle Myco trailer that currently has 9.50 x 16.5 Goodyear Workhorse (E load rating) tires on it. They are very worn on the inside only and need to be replaced. Who has the best deal on this size tire? They do not have to be Goodyear.

I just went to Belle Tire (Midwest tire place) for seven new 10 ply 16.5 tires for my triple axle plus spare trailer. Was not cheap....somewhere in the $1,300 range altogether. I looked around quite a bit, but couldn't find anything cheaper than what the regular car tire shops were offering. If you find something cheaper, I don't want to hear about it!

Try Tire Rack. I get ALL of my tires from them. I would also consider going to 16". Tires are cheaper than 16.5's and wheels are easier to find. I just put 4 Goodyear Marathon ST's on my enclosed car trailer for $600. And that was from a Goodyear dealer. I was out of town when I blew 2 and couldn't get back home to order them from Tire Rack. They were $117.00 ea. at Tire Rack. Another place to try is Eastern Marine. I got my son 4 for his camper. 225 x 16's load range E, $113.00 ea.

Other than that, try eBay.

I would not buy Goodyear tires more or less put them on a boat trailer. We use to service 800 boats a year and the number one trailer tire that had the most problems was the Goodyear Marathon by far without a doubt. Next when I had new boats that were leftovers into the next year that would just sit still - even sitting in a showroom - the problem tires were Goodyear Marathons. Complete overpriced junk tire. Anyways form your own opinions, I am just telling you our experiences thru out the years being is this business.

Tire rack.com They will tell you where you can get them mounted locally for a discount. No one is cheaper.

Ditch the16.5. I switched to 16 and new wheels and only cost a couple hund more. Very few stock the 16.5 and thats not what you want to hear when you are on the road and need one in a hurry. Just make sure to use E rated.

Also look at eTrailer.com . That is where I found my class "D" tires in a 14" for my trailer. (I had class C tires before but blew a tire every year since I bought the boat) Free shipping and the best price around for that i was looking for. Shipping time was 4 days from order to my front door.

Be careful getting tires at a big discount.... They could be be 5-7 year old tires. Ask for the manfg date if you do so.
