Shipping an engine
My 502 needs rebuilt, and I'm going to need to put it on a pallet for shipping. It has offshore style mounts from Fountain, are these usually a custom thing or a production item?
Does anyone have any pics of how they packaged up theirs for shipping? I'm going to start with a pallet I think, and go from there. Thanks, Cole |
Take it to your local GM dealer and have them crate it up for you

If you plan to re-use the crate, I suggest you build a frame and then plywood it. Also, it protects the contents better than an exposed pallet. I used tube steel, covered it with plywood, and built an engine stand inside. The bottom (which you can't see) is a heavy duty pallet. These crates have been back and forth to Sterling 4 times. They have held up well.

Thanks. They run better than they look.
