another hard day!
yet again had to put down our other long time buddy!
Teddy, my Rat Terrier that I picked up at 8 weeks took his last breath this afternoon
he has been suffering from heart problems since last fall and it was just getting too much
he was so happy, loving and always there for me. this is hard!
his heart problems was growing worse to the point that he would pass out several times a day. just simple things as running in the house would be too much and he would loose consciousness

rest in peace little buddy! sleep knowing you will always be well loved and missed greatly!

I can't imagine doing that, thank goodness mine passed on her own accord. Done with dogs, not going through the heartaches of their loss anymore.

KRAUSMOTORSPORTS 06-03-2014 08:50 AM

Man this sucks! I didn't want to open this thread. They really are our best friends. Now I know everybody is different but sometimes it saddens me more when a pet dies then some people do. I dread this day. Sorry for your loss but you gave him a great life!

I've said that same thing twice now but I've got another great dog again. Yea it's tough when you lose them but the pleasure they bring outweighs the pain by far. He's with me 24/7 and he knows what I'm going to do before I do. MnFastBoat, sorry for your loss. Your pup had a good long life and enjoyed you as much as you did him. Hang in there.

On the lighter side, if you're ever curious who loves you more, your woman or your dog, put both of them in the trunk of your car and leave them in there overnight and see which one is glad to see you the next morning!!

trannyjoe 06-03-2014 02:30 PM

unless your bring home food the dog is the only one that comes to the door to say hi...

12meter joe 06-03-2014 03:47 PM

Sorry man. Be proud of the great life you gave your best buddy!

sport396 06-03-2014 06:30 PM

I am so sorry for your loss. They are part of the family. We also had to put our Rat Terry Sport down a couple years ago. Had him from 6 weeks old.Swore we would not have another pet yet one year after Sport passed w
e rescused a Jack Russell. We named him Jack. He doesn't replace Sport but he gives us much pleasure.

skydog 06-03-2014 07:21 PM

Sucks man sorry

nkosi 06-03-2014 08:48 PM

My condolences. I lost my Rotti last year to what we believe was cancer. It's rough losing a pet.

Griff 06-03-2014 10:02 PM

MNF, very sorry to hear that. Been there done that and it sux.

teamsynergy 06-04-2014 06:07 AM

Sorry to hear brother... Keep your memories close to your heart. Never forget your bond... He'll always be with you... They always are. Stay strong!

s022mag 06-04-2014 09:31 AM

Hang in there, I know the feeling and what your going through... It just plain sucks and hurts. I put my 11 year old Great Dane down 2 summers ago and it was the first I've ever done something that hard. I picked him up 8 weeks after he was born, I even felt bad the first time I left him to go on vacation. It will get easier with time, for me I had to get out of my house for a few days as everything reminded me of him. Tearing up right now just thinking about him. Your not alone.

MnFastBoat 06-04-2014 12:24 PM

Thanks everyone!!!
It has been a hard long time coming for this day. Have know about his enlarged heart issues since last fall.
Vet says he has done great over the last 6+ months but the time was near on any accord.
What made an even worse day that in light of putting Teddy down we choose to put our boxer up for adoption as well.
We made the hard decision to go completely dog free :( Between work, family and such we felt the boxer home alone was not good and this being our second family dog to put down in recent years we did not want to go thru this again!
Our worked for the best, our Boxer went out to a Lady that runs a Nursing home. So She, Sugar, will go to work with her and be a Daily Aid at the nursing home! Talk about being overly LOVED!
The last two days I feel that I we will not get another dog at all. But when I am at home and it is so quiet and I miss them greatly that I think I want another dog :(

Thanks again! and I am so glad to be able to talk about it! And yes people do listen :)

rfgonzo 06-04-2014 12:49 PM

Sorry for your loss, one thing that help me get through it when we put our Great Dane down, was my daughter made me a shadowbox with his picture, leash and collar and his favorite bone inside of it to hang on the wall.

tpabayflyer 06-04-2014 01:07 PM

OK, so the Boxer just lost his buddy and now his whole family as well? My Dogs will be with me, together, for as long as we are alive.......... Not just for good times, or when it's conveniant..... Forever.

Some people do not deserve the privelige of Dog ownership..... TBF

MnFastBoat 06-05-2014 11:01 AM

TBF!
You know I really am not sure how my reply to you will turn as I type, so be it!

I read you comment last night and started a reply, deleted it and signed off of here!

I really want to be understanding that you really have not a clue about my life or love of dogs, so I thought maybe your just spouting off behind a monitor like most.

But I am going to say what I truly feel!

And that is you have not an F'nn clue about my life or love of dogs so how the F$#K can you make a comment to me "Some people do not deserve the privelige of Dog ownership"!!!
And I am reading into this that your comment is due to the fact of us not continueing to foster our Boxer but let her go to an adoptive family that WANTED her to, and utilize her for what she is great at and that is giving kindness and affection that will only be of great help with older folks at a Nursing/retirement home!
Really F***tard!! Like I said--you have NOT clue about our lives with animals!!!
I have owned over a half dozen dogs, foster many more, have spent thousands upon thousands in the last 20+ years of dog ownership!
Just because we as a family have decided to not endure more pain of loosing our beloved dogs, and it has been many! Because we decided to stop having multiple dogs at home, partly of because we want to move to a different home, You choose to put me into a category of not deserving to own a dog!!
Can you read between the lines when I tell you to GO ---- Yourself!!

To any and all others, I apologize for this post, mods if you feel the need to delete it, close it or just remove the entire post if you feel deemed as doing so.

This is just one jacka$$ TBF that really has not a clue how to give a supported word like many other have done so.

And my final disclaimer! TBF, if I have truly interpreted your comment in the wrong manner, then please enlighten more and I will gladly retract this!

Red_Hill 06-05-2014 11:21 PM

So sorry for your loss. Best use of a first post ever.

MnFastBoat 06-06-2014 06:58 AM

I guess you missed this post? Your personal attacks certainly reveal your character or lack thereof...... As a former rescue volunteer/trainer I am unfortunately all too familiar with Dogs that get cast aside when selfish humans deem their loyal companions "inconvenient"....... I have nurtured numerous Dogs back to normal behavior after being traumatized by the separation anxiety from being removed from their home and family. Your previous post mentioned nothing about your Boxer being a Foster Dog so I and anyone else reading your post would have no clue about this. If you had made this clear I would have never responded in such an abrasive manner.

Calling me out for simply pointing out the obvious is your choice. As an experienced Dog Foster Family, you should have made that fact abundantly clear to avoid any hint of criticism.......
