Sea Trial Wows

2nd sea trial yesterday ended up another stress level 10. Either some cheap ass part shrugs the run or PEOPLE. Ever time I set off on lake someone pulls out in front of me. or run out of lake, or Co Pilot decides to get a video and gets in my face, then massive rain storm on last run. Just not been very productive. never got to change props, these are some 4 blade Rolla wheels. 3rd sea trial is out of the ?. had enough of people and weather, need to chill out for a tad. OH I SHARE YOUR GRIEF
It seems every time I'm out on our lake the pontoon boats ALWAYS get in the way -- these aircraft carriers take up too much real estate and most of the drivers have no concept of their size in relationship to other boats- and don't get me started about how a good portion of the riders (and most likely drivers) are liquored up.

Also, the jet skiers constantly use the boat wake -- or try to race with you -- I'm all for it - but not on a crowded day

Best of luck next time

how about passengers that think you owe them something, or expect you to flip entire day because I am rich. Love that idiot statement. Expect liquor, food, gas, and grass is to be on the boat owner. Kiss my white little @ss. After run was over, I told so called friends that will be the last time you will be on my boat. Inconsiderate @ holes. I could go on & on with so called friends.
Oh well, another day of BOATING WITH MORONS.

Crude Intentions 06-24-2014 02:31 PM

Ok. I feel your pain on idiots on the water. I don't invite people on my boat expecting them to pay me. Being your own drinks and we are all good.

However. The running out of lake issue is easily solved. You have Daytona beach as your location. Use that small pond right there known as the Atlantic Ocean. Lol. Won't be running out of room!! Lol. Good luck on the next attempt.

Wobble 06-24-2014 02:49 PM

I don't expect them to pay, however since I have the fuel and running expenses covered. Splitting the cost of lunch between them is always appreciated and pretty much guarantees another invite.

I took 3 couples and my girl out on my boat the second weekend I got it. Now, I didn't ask them to come and bring money for anything but, they all watched me put 500 in gas in and even commented on how crazy that is, no offer. Went for a nice long ride to get dinner and a few drinks, no offer. Got off the boat, I cleaned up and covered the boat, no offer. Needless to say that was the last time anyone of them has been on it since.

I'm going boating anyway so whatever but, some common courtesy would be nice. Espeacially as they'll know I'm not wealthy by any means so $500 is a lot of money to me.

redwhite 06-24-2014 03:25 PM

I hear ya on the buyback from the passingers. I make no question about it. Almost always my last comment to a passinger about the boat ride is "Cool. Meet you at the marina. You pick up the beer."

.

12meter joe 06-24-2014 03:36 PM

When I'm a guest I always ask what do they need on my way. Then I give gas money and won't take no for an answer. I even feel bad sometimes when I go on few friends boats that have much deeper pockets than me and fill up their boats for $1000 all the time and I only have $100 or so to offer lol. They never except it anyway. :angry-smiley-038:

My problem mostly jet ski's they see you coming and go across your bow not knowing how fast your running or behind another boat jumping there wake making it hard for you to pass.

B38 06-24-2014 09:08 PM

then it rained like hell, then stopped. passengers complained they where cold and wet. wanted to get off boat and take a taxi back, but yet cant buy me a fricken bottle of water. I refused, and made them freeze for 7 more miles at 45 MPH. LOL revenge. I had a dry shirt so I was just fine at 45. That day was a 600.00 day for me to go down the drain. Love my Baby though, just PEOPLE!!!!!!!

B38 06-24-2014 09:11 PM

Those Rolla props I had to return, time was up. bummer I never got to try them wheels out. We shall see next month. maybe run it Solo and get a better safer sea trial. B38

Don't take this the wrong way because I understand where you're coming from, but the guys that are in the pontoon are not expecting a go fast boat to come flying by them they have just as much of a right to be on the water as we do. Some of my best memories were on grandpas 10 mph pontoon. Our responsibility as go fast boats is to be able to read water conditions and judge what other people are going to do in front of us.

Agreed, but I also look behind me when making a turn, most pontoons and jet ski's don't. Its they don't understand the concept of an expensive boat.

bulletbob 06-25-2014 04:48 AM

People sux! Especially the boating crowd!!!! I generally boat alone for that very reason. I like to go fast in the rough. The rougher the better to make it more of a driving experience. Your Bertram loves you and I love your Bertram as well so just love it back. I have a friend who wants a cat just doesn't have the coin. He helps with fuel. You have to pay to play with me.

My ex-wife's friends/co workers were always the worst. They were all liberals, all had government type jobs, and no concept of responsibility. Effing sponges! never brought drinks or food with them, & one of them asked if I would take them to Chicago (from South Haven Michigan) for the day. My response was sure, as long as you're buying the gas... so the sponge offered $20 towards gas! I told her that was about 10 minutes worth, and Chicago was 65 miles one way, or about a $200.00 round trip. Her response? Why on earth would anybody have a boat that uses so much gas? My response? So people like you can go out for rides with people like me and look cool in the go fast boat at no cost! The ex was pissed at me, but I never had to put up with her sponge friend again.

bulletbob 06-25-2014 07:08 AM

Anything that starts with "my ex-wifes/friends co workers" is bound to go horribly wrong.lol

Pontoon boats are stupid. In fact, in the world of boating, they are a clear sign of giving up. You get a pontoon boat and the next thing you know is your wife is wearing pajamas in public and you're driving a minivan. HA!

LOL:drink:

Been on a couple of pontoon parties that could never have happened on a go fast. Wouldn't have missed them if I had a choice.

jbraun2828 06-25-2014 11:47 AM

If you guys boated on real lakes you wouldn't have to worry about pontoons being in your way.

This is a stupid statement. What's the cost of anything have to do with boating safety or the right of way.

Well I seen one take down 2-3' chop passing powerboats two weeks ago! I'm not kidding when I say passing them! Like 50-55mph:lolhit: I stopped, took a double take and grabbed the vodka.

B38 06-26-2014 06:30 AM

I think there one that does 107 Mph at Loto. Speed such as that should not be on a PONTOON Boat.

I watched that run with my own eyes. It was amazing, no bobbles, no porpoising, just like it was on rails. As much as I hate to admit it, the very next run was a 39 Top Gun that flopped all the way down the course netting an 88 mph speed.. Looked foolish compared to that pontoon.

Its the same reason that most people with nice vehicles don't park them next to the old beater in the Home Depot parking lot... I agree with you that responsible thing to do is respect the right of way. last year I watched a pontoon smash into the side of a boat while trying to beach it. He built up speed to get it up on shore then pulled the dive up, by the time that he realized that he was going into the boat he had to much speed and the motor was up. They are throw away boats and people know that.
